Yeah, so I'm looking for something that is newer, simple, cheap, good mpg, light, small(er), and easier/cheaper to maintain. I'm looking to buy if/when my car sells. This is one possible option...and one that MM knows well.
Model: MUST be a NB generation car - looking at '99-'01 cars.
Budget: 6-7k (they are out there for that price, I've searched and found several...MAY go slightly higher if its the "one")
MUST be a manual
Mileage ~100k, the less the better
Colors, in order of most to least preferred:
1. Silver
2. Black
3. White
4. Dark Blue
5. Dark Green
Absolutely no red!
BIG pluses: Appearance package, Nardi wheel, roll bar of some sort
I'm looking for stock or close to stock examples. Acceptable mods include light suspension work (springs/shocks/sways), intake & (quiet) exhaust, roll bar.
If my car sells, you'll know it and at that point I'd appreciate your help in locating one - Thanks

Here's one that would fit most criteria, aside from the Appearance pack, also known as Tupperware in the Miata community.
Just curious, why limit yourself to those specific years? 01+ have the VVT, which supposedly requires premium gas.

EDIT: Sorry, I mis-read your price limit. The linked car is like $8800. Either way, you can find them for $5-6k with higher miles like you said.

the 01+ are actually slower according to the dyno and SM guys. VVT wasnt all it cracked up to be in these old cast iron blocks.
01+ interior is better , but the font end is uglier and people want crazy money for them still.

What about a 10AE? There was one for sale forever on craigslist in the area, I'll see if I can find the ad.... It had fairly low mileage and the price was reasonable.

Both of those are listed at the upper end of what they are worth. Hard to go wrong with picking up Evan's.

Just curious, why exclusively NB? There are some nice 94-97 cars for sale that otherwise fit your criteria. Aside from looks & interior, the NA and NB are largely the same car. In fact, a NB interior will easily swap into an NA.
Not judging, just trying to expand your (currently specific) search.

I just want the newest I can afford, really. I'd be lying if I said I didn't prefer NB looks more, but after having a 20+ year old car for two years I'm looking forward to having something with the most "modern" interior/look/feel for the money.

The NB makes a much nicer everyday car, and definitely good buys to be had. i sold my black '99 for $6500 and that had a bunch of nice parts on it (rollbar, suspension, exhaust).
