The caps are back in the playoffs! - damnit458 - 04-07-2008

Hooray

I figured if the subject warrants two people changing their avatars it deserves its own thread

But seriously though anybody planning on going to game one or two? I've watched every game for about the last three or so months, gone to a few live, and I've never seen the Verizon center as crazy as it was for the last three games (especially the last of the season). Add to that the fact that the caps are 11-1 in their last 12 (i believe) and absolutely on fire, and I think anybody going would have a hell of a time.

If anybody is curious btw and haven't caught a game, follow this link and click on the April 5th (florida) game. That was the last game, on saturday, that got them into the playoffs. Fast forward to somewhere near the end and then just take a look at the crowd. Very cool Smile

I wish i could go to some of their playoff games. I looked for 2 tix on ticketmaster soon after they clinched and nothing was available. As much as I like Olie, I've been saying for years now that he's old and not very good. Thats been quite apparent since the arrival of Huet who's been amazing in their stretch run to the playoffs. Watching Ovechkin play is incredible and his enthusiasm for the game is so infectious. I laugh just watching him jump against the boards when either he scores of his teammate scores. Its like watching a little kid. I'm sure the Flyers know that OV is the caps main threat so they'll probably play pretty physical on him. OV's a horse though so if he can stay healthy, we've got a good chance of beating Philly. Its certainly gonna be a bit more interesting if Morrison and Shulz are out for more than a couple of games or if the Flyers get Briere back which I think they will.

wooo, GO CAPS!!!

I'll be at games 1 and 2... with my Flyers jersey on.

From what I've read today, Mo/Shultz are aiming to practice with the team wed and hopefully play for the first game friday. Even getting them back for part of the series will be huge though.

I agree about Olie's goaltending, the Huet trade was fantastic. Honestly I think this series is going to have a lot less to do with ovechkin than everybody thinks. If the caps get secondary scoring (Semin, Feds, Laich, Green, etc) they're in good shape. You know the flyer's are going to be aiming for ovie so I don't really expect him to have to great a series (although who knows with him).

IMO this is gonna be a very physical series so expect a lot outta Brashear/Cooke. Philly is pretty much just going to aim to wear them down.

Philly is known to be quite the dirty team, so what do you think is the over/under for the number of fights that Brashear gets in during the series?

I'm going with 31.

don't hate just because the caps kicked your lowly carolina team out on the last day

Are you talking about that lowly carolina team that was above us for about all but 15 or say days in the season?

I have to say, not that I think this of those on here, but the philly fans on the hockey forums I read are for the most part obnoxious and arrogant.

The only thing worse than Washington fans are Philly fans. Washington tends to be more fair-weather and Philly are more obnoxious. I say that as an independent evaluator (Cowboys fan) that has lived in both areas.

Fixed that for you.

Actually it extends to real life pretty well too.

- ScottyB - 04-08-2008

ahahaha.....so true

i'm not really obnoxious, just more of a pain in the ass

Wow there are hockey fans in the US?? I thought I was the only one... I am fortunate enough not to be a caps or a flyers fan though.

does that mean you're a devils fan? aside from brodeur, that whole team can die in a fire

If you're a devils fan I can honestly say I'm SO glad the caps play a style nothing like the devils.

Nothing against them or anything but JESUS is it boring to watch a team that traps all game long. The rags vs devils series is going to be so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww
