but I was never parked there! I got a parking ticket for being parked on a weekday morning at 1:15am in an area of D.C. that I have never been, much less had my car there. What the hell is this crap?

I called the DC DMV and they are going to send me the original ticket and with that I can establish my innocence. Will update once that gets here. The call was made last Monday.

Here we go with adjudication. I called DC DMV today and said it has been a week since I asked to have the ticket mailed to me. So the guy sends me a fax with information on it, but it is not to ticket. Go figure it has all the information that I already have. Ugh.
We'll see what happens.

Yep, DC will screw you. And in the blink of an eye, your ticket fine will double if you don't pay it, and then they'll threaten to put a lien on your vehicle.

Definitely agree with the above, when the g/f and I went to DC for the weekend the good people at the Westin strongly advised just putting the car in their garage instead of looking for a street spot.
I believe the exact comment from the valet was: "Police will ticket your shit a minute after you leave it."

Only place in DC where I got a truly unlawful ticket was M St. - gave me a "rush hour parking zone" fine for 4:20PM. Too bad I parked at 3:35 and was out by 3:40. Me being proud and stupid, I found the lady four cars down where I challenged it and she told me "tough shit." I gave it back to her to destroy, she complied, and 6 weeks later I got a friendly notice in the mail informing me that my fee had double due to not paying. :/
I've had my fair share of other tickets that were challengable due to the circumstances (downed signs, etc), but the amount of red tape and time required to fight them isn't worth it. Sadly, DC also knows this and capitalizes on it...

I am going to fight this as long as I can. It absolutley unacceptable that I received a ticket, much less a notice for unpaid tickets.
