Matt's Bike + Chick = Photoshoot - Apoc - 10-23-2006

These are pretty much straight outta the camera but I have to admit that I'm really not all that pleased with my first "in studio" effort... and I'm being honest, not just trying to be modest and fishing for compliments like usual.

The light boxes are complicated, either too high or too low, and it takes a considerable amount of effort to frame a motorcycle in a backdrop without shooting more of the room that you intended. She's either washed out or not lit well enough and none of them really have that "wow" factor pictures should have. These are truly amateur.

Comments (good and bad) are appreciated. I'll post the cleaned up versions once I get them done.

Dude, next time you might want to choose a model with a little bit of pigmentation and muscle tone. She's not 'washed out' because the lighting is off, she's just pale as a ghost. Smile

haha. -saves them all-

- Dragon - 10-23-2006

1) sorry for getting there so late, damn work
2) sorry for not having time to clean up the bike even more, I'm disappointed that the rim stripes are dirty

- WRXtranceformed - 10-23-2006

Not bad man. A couple of things I might suggest for next time, and take this with a grain of salt because I'm the furthest thing from a competent photographer.
1) Maybe next time have the bike sitting on another surface besides the sheet that's used as the backdrop. My eyes were instantly drawn to the wrinkles in the third pic from the top.
2) IMO the model is fine, but have her switch up the facial expressions a little. It will add variety and depth to the series of shots. She just doesn't quite give me the "I'm sexy and know it" look that really sets off in my mind most model photoshoots.
3) Maybe use a softer, more natural light if it's available next time. I get the feel like it was shot inside a hospital hallway with tons of phosphorescent lights overhead. It would really help to add some more color to the model and bring out the rich tones in the bike.

Otherwise, they're much better than I could do! Bike looks sharp man =)

You know what, you're absolutely right... it totally looks like a hospital.

Here's the same chick from a shoot in July. Everything came out so much better in natural light, even if it was 95┬░.

can always count on you for constructive criticism

- BLINGMW - 10-23-2006

don't worry, it was determined at the time that the horse was over 7 years of age

- .paul - 10-23-2006

a whit epasty girl on a white white background does not go good.

not that I know much, but she just was not the girl for this shoot

This is true, however I had two other models back out. We had the option of a black or a blue background but were greatly limited by the bike. :?

- .paul - 10-23-2006

understand the circumstances.. might want to photoshop her skin

- Apoc - 10-23-2006

Yeah... I'm gonna pull out some of the glare and add some contrast. We'll see.

Any chance you could 'chop in her natural hair color?

LOL....terrible, terrible images

overall the lighting is again the main thing i saw that could use improvement. composition is important too, but i imagine the space and limitations of the backdrop make that hard

- Evan - 10-23-2006

she looks much better next to the horse.

- Apoc - 10-23-2006

bonus "interesting costume" shot
