Skydiving - Andy - 03-21-2006

A friend and I are planning on trying out skydiving in May once work settles down a bit. The larger the group, the cheaper it is. The only catch is that you have to be attached to the instructor. Solo diving requires training which costs ~1000 bucks. Depending on how large the group is, it can be anywhere from 85-200 bucks a jump. WhoÔÇÖs in?

when in May?

Not exactly true Andy, most Skydive places offer tandem (attached) and accelerated free fall (two instructors jump out with you but you're not attached to them), but AFF typically costs about $100 more.

Depending on how many people you get interested and the overall cost I'd love to join ya though.

HEHE, can you tell this is one of the top things on my "to-do" list and therefore have the info readily available. :-D
Only dates I can't do it in May would be the 18 - 22nd since I'll be in the florida keys scuba diving.

- JustinG - 03-21-2006

"you for scuba?"

- Feersty - 03-21-2006

I wanna do it, but I get nervous thinking about it.

- Evan - 03-21-2006

hrmmmm....

- Andy - 03-21-2006

If enough people go, maybe they'll let us carry an MM banner and have someone take a picture of us.

seeing a picture of the MMs at 5000 feet would be sweet as hell

- Andy - 07-12-2006

Back from the dead. Let's do this in August when everyone's schedule settles down. Show of hands folks interested and let's get rolling.

- Dragon - 07-12-2006

Tentative pending all the unexpected expenses from getting the new MM house up and running.

Quote:McNamera was making a routine jump, something he has done thousands of time before and witnesses said something went wrong and he fell forty feet to his death.

Those on the plane and on the ground told sheriffs the Skydive Virginia instructor tried to make a sharp turn too late in the jump.

...

Quote: Last year he was involved in another skydiving accident but miraculously survived.

ÔÇ£It involved a tandem jump where you have an instructor and a student tied together coming down. They had an accident and one fell on top of the other,ÔÇØ recalled Lowe.

That student died and it was a long road to recovery for McNamera.

this news article was like a month or two ago and has made me think that skydive virginia probably isnt the best place to go

to add fuel to the fire, a friend of mine is an amateur pilot and he said he hates flying in and out of that airstrip because they dont have a tower so you dont know when or where skydivers will be falling out of planes. so theoretically he could hit a skydiver in mid air with his plane. unlikely, but much more of a possibility than when you do have a control tower.
