- Mike - 02-19-2006

what is different about the new wheels?

- Nis01 - 02-19-2006

Looks great Ryan. You actually fill out most of the wheel well now.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 02-19-2006

The new wheels are larger and wider... You and your new lover I see are doing well....lol. I got my other set of rims and tires down here today, ill be putting em on as soon as I am able to mount tires I have for the rims. So ill be ghetto-fantastic with my 3000gt rims till spring break when I can go get another 5zigen.

Anyone know of a good place to mount and balance tires? Also, anyone have a nice jack that can throw up my car real fast so I can throw on these rims..I hate being on a spare.

PS- The pictures dont do justice for the increase in rim size. I bet they look good in person. Paint em bronze or black!!!!! Come on!!! Black would look hot as shit!!!

width, diameter, tires

i know the previous are 16x?, the new ones are 17x? and this way Ryan can use TT brakes, like Dave.

edit: D_Eclipse beat me to it

- Ryan T - 02-19-2006

Heres the difference:

On my n/a wheels
16x8 Front - 225/50/16
16x9 Rear - 245/50/16

On the new TT wheels
17x8 Front - 245/45/17
17x9.5 Rear - 275/40/17

This will now allow me to run TT brakes. Plus they look 1000000x better.

- JustinG - 02-19-2006

the larger wheels def give it a better look. Although they are the same design they are still pimp since they are larger. Good look Thayer 8) Also DJ i gotta jack, just stop by squire hill when you get a chance or give me a call, 434-390-6300, plus i got my tires mounted and balanced at merchant i think 10 a tire, didnt scratch my wheels at all i was surprised.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 02-20-2006

Where is merchants around here? I think ill try to take care of it tomorrow, I hate driving on a spare...

damn boy, your rear wheels are wider than mine! Is a 275 all you could fit under there? A 9.5" wheel should eat a 285/295 pretty easy.

look good either way, you going to bring it to summit pt this year?

- Ryan T - 02-20-2006

I'm sure a 285 or 295 would have fit, but 275 is as wide as I want to go on my sub 200whp car right now, plus thats what was already on the wheels when I got them.

I'll definantely be bringing it up to summit this year, but I don't know if I'll be tracking it. I don't really feel comfortable tracking something I still owe money on.

so i've heard of this thing called "turbos" that you can get for your car that might put you above 200hp. i dunno, has anyone here heard of them?

You know, I have heard of those strange things in passing, but I've chosen not to go that route. I think that to get me above the 200whp mark I'm gonna buy some of that vtak stuff.

- Feersty - 02-20-2006

I hope you didn't spend a lot for such a subtle difference but function over fashion.

- Ryan T - 02-20-2006

I didn't spend a penny.

But with one right beside the other, the difference isn't nearly as subtle as it may appear.
