Opinions on E.T. Motorsports - JustinG - 01-25-2006 OK....So im currently makin money to get some dyno time to finally get my pile tuned and makin the power it should. Is this place pretty descent? I know some guys have been here and all but i want a lil feedback. How are they on EMS? Customer Service? that sorta stuff. Just want some of yalls feedback and experience with them. Thanks. Any other shop suggestions would be good as well. - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-25-2006 Are you talking about the one in MAryland or the one here in Weyers Cave. The one in maryland has been around forever and has a really nice facility!!! I Was thinking of going there or machv for tuning...maybe even sbr, but I Think I trust extreme more... - Chris - 01-25-2006 don't ask Andy how he feels! - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-25-2006 Andy brought a prelude to a dsm specialist, we dont give a shit about anybody else's cars....lol...just playing...but seriously, bring your car to a place that specializes in your car and I Bet you will come out way ahead compared to bringing it to another shop that specializes in something else. - Maengelito - 01-25-2006 a friend of mine (who is currently in jail, but thats a completely different story) is very good friends with DJ from ET motorsports. while i have not had any personal experience with ET, i always heard about DJ being a reputable person. take it for what its worth - BLAIR - 01-25-2006 if thats the shop that brought that tan sleeper as a mofo dsm to the car show.. then they are cool in my book....do they have a dyno on site? might have to check em out sometime - Andy - 01-26-2006 ET doesn't have a dyno on site. DJ is a roofer who does this at night. I would talk to Travis. he would probably know about tuning a turbo more than anyone else on this forum. I think he took his to MachV. - JustinG - 01-26-2006 ok. i was just wondering if anything was closer than nova. thanks for the input - Dave - 01-26-2006 ET Motorsports is a great group of guys. DJ knows more about DMSs than pretty much anybody that I have ever met. In terms of tuning your car, talk to him to see if you might be able to borrow him for an evening. There is a local guy, in Elkton IIRC, that has a mobile dynojet and you could strap on there and do as many runs as necessary for a flat fee. See if DJ will accompany you up there and get the job done right here in town. - CaptainHenreh - 01-26-2006 DJ also has never done wrong by me...but I'd only go to him with a DSM. - KPWSerpiente - 01-26-2006 You could take your turbo 420A running MS to DJ...but I wouldn't. I forgot who he told me does the tuning for his car...I want to say the guy from Pruven, or maybe TurboTrix but if he takes it elsewhere wouldn't you? Quote:if thats the shop that brought that tan sleepe HA. That's not a sleeper. That is just a DSM. Quote:I think he took his to MachV. Ultimate/MachV has an awd capable dyno in house. I did all the tuning on my car, but if you want to pay someone locally (in VA) I'd tell you to take it to Jason Hunt who works at Ultimate because that is what he does all day long. Tune tune tune. I keep telling you Justin to bring it up here...tuning it won't be that hard. -T - JustinG - 01-26-2006 yea sounds like thats what is gonna happen.... - .RJ - 01-26-2006 CaptainHenreh Wrote:but I'd only go to him with a DSM. Cars are Cars? Its all nuts and bolts really. Engines and tuning are no different because its a DSM, or a Ford, or a Honda if you understand how they work. - CaptainHenreh - 01-26-2006 .RJ Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:but I'd only go to him with a DSM. No, but my point was that he knows DSM's inside and out...for tuning, you're probably right. For other stuff...I'm not sure I'd bring, say, an RX-7 to him. - Dave - 01-26-2006 KPWSerpiente Wrote:You could take your turbo 420A running MS to DJ...but I wouldn't. I forgot who he told me does the tuning for his car...I want to say the guy from Pruven, or maybe TurboTrix but if he takes it elsewhere wouldn't you? That is because he is running the AEM setup and hadn't learned it thorougly enough to tune it himself at the time. He's been learning about it though and does know how to tune most, if not all, other setups. MachV will tune your car, but it will be far more expensive than my above suggestion, IMO. - ripley - 01-26-2006 I live in the area and have seen their cars driving around for a couple years. I'm not to impressed, but I could be wrong. They did a turbo civic hatch a while back and one of my friends said he saw what it could do and it didn't look like it was doing exactly what it should have been capable of doing, the car's owner had the turbo put on... turbo is gone now, no more intercooler. Don't ask me why. Maybe it's just me, I don't trust very many people to work on my car, I am picky maybe. But then again I have no experience with them, just what I have seen and hear from others locally. - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-26-2006 .RJ Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:but I'd only go to him with a DSM. Really your vague comments are not very helpful. Tuning with a certain program that someone is more familiar with will go a lot faster, smoother, and be able to do specific "tricks" that he has learned over doing many of them to make the tuning better. So to say it doesnt matter its just....well...ignorant. - KPWSerpiente - 01-27-2006 Quote: That is because he is running the AEM setup and hadn't learned it thorougly enough to tune it himself at the time. MachV does not tune cars. MachV does not own a dyno, and neither Dan or Heather or Will or the new guy have anything to do with tuning car. Ultimate tunes cars....or like I keep saying, Jason Hunt tunes cars. Yes they are housed in the same facility as Ultimate and that might be a little confusing which is why I'm trying to keep it simple. I'm sorry Dave...your argument for saving money on tuning is pretty dumb. Justin...tell Dave how much your motor and custom turbo set up ran. Sounds like a lot huh Dave? Maybe he should stick with the plan of A: having a reputable tuner tune his car for a few more dollars than DJ might. Or B: Have Justin tune his own car so he has no one else to blame if things go wrong. I'll even help as I've told him...as long as he promises not to blame me. I'm glad DJ is learning AEM's plug and play system...that shit is complicated no matter how easy they try and make it sound. Thankfully Jason Hunt (Ultimate), or Sean Glazer (Extreme), or Howard (ARFab), or whoever it is that does AMS's tuning (not familiar with them at all) already know it. -T - JustinG - 01-27-2006 i feel like i can tune the car i just need some help, someone whos familiar with tuning VE tables, Injector timing, Pulse length, etc.... Only person who has come forward to help is Travis and we are in two different locations, hence the reason of no tune. And after hearing what ET has done to Hondas and the fact he pissed me off at the car show last year i will not be going there. Invitation is still open if anyone has a clue about tuning. - KPWSerpiente - 01-27-2006 If your sunday is free...my sunday is free. I'll make a little visit to the hburg. Who's got some floorspace? -T |
