Test drove new GTO - HAULN-SS - 10-28-2005 Wow...it's fantastic. The traction control works like a champ when you need it to. It's geared perfectly! (same gearbox as corvette). I hit 67 in 2nd gear getting on the interstate effortlessly(6 speed). The interior was typical domestic GM interior though, thats the only downfall. Not the entire interior though..just like, the sun visors and stuff. The emroidered leather seats felts great. Suede door panels and floor panels..nice touch. The 4 bucket seats are 8 way powered, and have a race-seat design too them to hold you in the seat. Very comfortable, and, surprisingly, very easy to see out of the car. you feel like you're sitting high up in the car. Not likea camaro or something where you're practically laying down in the car. blah..I'm tired...it was awesome. - Jeff - 10-31-2005 My dad moved the SRT-4 out of the showroom over the weekend and went to go play golf...keys in the switch. Sylvia and I grabbed a tag and out we went. BOOOOSSSSTTTT, it is my friend. I don't see how people hate on that car...its right nice inside for a neon...and its fast...hehe. Is the GTO boosted or v8? Or both? I'm too lazy to google. - Mike - 10-31-2005 buddy of mine just ran his stock gto... i think he got it for around 25k new, and it ran a 13.1 - Ryan T - 10-31-2005 Thats a pretty respectable time for the GTO. - CaptainHenreh - 10-31-2005 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Is the GTO boosted or v8? It's got manifolds on it stock...headers and a free flowing intake would free up quite a bit of power. Also..was that 13.1s in a 2005 6 speed? - G.Irish - 10-31-2005 How was the handling? - John - 10-31-2005 Too bad it weighs more than a tank. - Mike - 10-31-2005 G.Irish Wrote:How was the handling? what handling? - HAULN-SS - 10-31-2005 Ehh...you know it didnt handle bad at all. I think it has that variable spring dampening..or wahtever the hell its called. I didnt *really* get a chance to hit any curves much more than interstate cloverleaf turns...it'd stick to those all day long at close to interstate speed - JustinG - 11-01-2005 a lil over 200 more pounds than the 06 stang + 100 more ponies, ill take it. - Ryan T - 11-01-2005 I really like them, but they just look like pontiac grand ams. If I was going to spend that kind of money on an american rwd car it'd be a C5 Corvette or a 300C Hemi. - Jeff - 11-01-2005 Ryan T Wrote:If I was going to spend that kind of money on an american rwd car it'd be a C5 Corvette or a 300C Hemi. Gotta make it the 6.1L SRT8 - Evan - 11-01-2005 300C is based on an outdated E series benz platform (which wasnt the least bit sporty even when it was new) and comparing to a C5 is an apple orange comparison. The Holden is a very solid car and has a fantastic racing pedigree. If pontiac didnt weigh it down so much Id be happier, but I still think its a fantastic car. - Jeff - 11-01-2005 Evan Wrote:300C is based on an outdated E series benz platform (which wasnt the least bit sporty even when it was new) and comparing to a C5 is an apple orange comparison. Dude...you are a hatin' mofo. For a V8 RWD car (with American style) it is pretty damn nice. ![]() Oh and way to go on the "300 is no Vette" comment
- Ryan T - 11-01-2005 Evan Wrote:300C is based on an outdated E series benz platform (which wasnt the least bit sporty even when it was new) and comparing to a C5 is an apple orange comparison. agreed, but I was looking at both aspects of why people would buy a GTO. If I wanted an american sports car, I'd get the C5 vette, not the GTO. If I was looking for a powerful V8 rwd american cruiser, I'd get the 300C, not the GTO. - Evan - 11-01-2005 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Dude...you are a hatin' mofo. And last I checked, this was Madison Motorsports, not Madison Big Pimpin Boulevard Cruisers :lol:MBPBC for lyfe y0! - BLINGMW - 11-01-2005 Evan Wrote:MBPBC for lyfe y0!
