Rims (pics..board spam) - HAULN-SS - 04-04-2005

Thinking ahead for summer purchase of rims..probably 17's in front 18's in back. Which of these two do you guys like the best? Make a suggestion?

I like the IROCs

- WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2005

Post a pic of your car, would help me decide better.

The straight lines and angles of the IROCs would probably match your car better. Either way, can't go wrong with chrome ! 8)

Make sure you don't cheap out on rims is my only advice. You don't want to keep having to buy replacements.

huh? cheap wheels are less expensive to replace when you do curb or bend one too.

i like the AR wheels, very classy muscle car looking.

- WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2005

The cheaper the wheel, the more likely it's going to get bent. Hence it costing more when you have to keep replacing bent rims because you hit a small pothole in the road.

I doubt anyone replaces their rim just because it gets curb rash. If they do, they must have money to burn 8)

I like the AR wheels, but they look exactly like the bullit mustang gt wheels, therefore I'd go with the IROC ones.

not necessarily.

- .RJ - 04-04-2005

SSR wheels are expensive as shit and will bend very easily on the street...

- WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2005

Maybe I should say, the more cheaply the wheel is made, the more likely it is to get bent 8)

AKA Axxis. They look cool as hell but apparently bend like a pad of butter =/ And those aren't very cheap.

Even cheap wheels will hold up fine Smile

I've tracked all sorts of cheap wheels (under $120 ea, 15" cast alum) without a problem.

- Ginger - 04-04-2005

I love the Crager SS knockoffs from AR, you can't really go wrong with them.... but I don't think the lines would go so well with your car.

So my vote's for the IROC's.

How many pot holes do you hit on a track though ? I've never tracked, so I'm really curious about that =p I wouldn't pay money to track on a course that has pot holes... and if all of them do, I'll stick to trying autocross

On another note, it's pretty tough to bend 15s, regardless or their quality. There's a lot of tire to cushion the blow. The larger the rim, the easier it'll bend~

pot holes? not so many. gators or offs? dpending on who you are, could be often. fwiw, i've seen more expensive wheels bend/break on track than cheap ones. i've had a forged fikse fly at me, i've seen ssr wheels bend like.. i dont know... the only cheap wheel i've seen bend or crack was a single konig helium.

Plenty. Along with curbing, going 'off' a bunch of times, etc...

1 Vote: IROC's!
