Black Betty the BRZ - King_swizz - 03-22-2017 Back in January, I was finally able to unload my tC on a dealer that claimed that he would, "sell this car in less than a week, especially with that loud exhaust." I'm fairly certain it's still on the lot. That isn't the point of this post, though. I traded the tC in for a whopping $3,000 to put toward a lightly used '15 BRZ Limited. Since i bought it, I've clocked about 3,000 miles and I've loved every one. It handles well, it's very comfortable (although a tad small), and sounds great even in stock form. I'm not sure what my plans for the car are quite yet, but I'm sure it'll take form sooner or later. I've already bought a set of XXR 527s (17x8.25, +35) and have them mounted on the stock 215 Michelin tires. The sidewalls are stretched, but not ridiculously so. Still not my style, and I'll be buying properly sized tires soon. I also have a little diddy from Diode Dynamics they call the "Always-On Module," which keeps the boomerang LEDs around the headlights on as DRLs. Also, two days ago (I think) I ordered and Invidia N1 catback system, so she'll be louder sooner. Sorry I suck at making forum posts. Here are some pictures (in chronological order) of the outside, interior and whatever the hell else. Enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Black Betty the BRZ - Senor_Taylor - 03-22-2017 I've yet to drive this. Why is that true? I like this car much more than the TC. Much more "you". Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Black Betty the BRZ - ScottyB - 03-22-2017 awesome, consider me a fan. i've wanted one of these for years. on a proper twisty road, that chassis is perfect. if you're not planning to install an oil cooler, make sure you run a robust synthetic or something that can handle high oil temps. the FA20 in these likes to run toasty, even on the street. here's some fun inspiration for you, from a fellow black BRZ owner that i've been checking in on every once in a while over the past couple years. really tickles my jiblets in all the right ways. mmmf. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13157 Re: Black Betty the BRZ - JPolen01 - 03-22-2017 I like this Re: Black Betty the BRZ - .RJ - 03-22-2017 i like Re: Black Betty the BRZ - BLINGMW - 03-22-2017 Excellent choice Re: Black Betty the BRZ - Jake - 03-22-2017 Looks great on those wheels, and quite the upgrade from the tC! When will we see you out in a Hyperdrive or HPDE 1 with this thing? Re: Black Betty the BRZ - rherold9 - 03-22-2017 Needs moar low. Auto-x it. HPDE it. Wait for possible BRZ/FRS/86 NASA class. Race it. I always thought of it if you don't want a Miata and aren't game for a S2K this is a perfect option for a balance between them. Jake Wrote:Looks great on those wheels, and quite the upgrade from the tC!Mainly waiting on getting proper tires, I'm not sure how much faith I have in the stretched sidewalls. In hindsight, I probably should have bought tires instead of an exhaust, but I'll acquire them soon enough. rherold9 Wrote:Needs moar low. Auto-x it. HPDE it. Wait for possible BRZ/FRS/86 NASA class. Race it.I agree, it does need some lows. It'll find a track or a cone-filled parking lot soon! Re: Black Betty the BRZ - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-23-2017 Awesome, great cars. Re: Black Betty the BRZ - DavidL - 03-23-2017 Man.... I really want one of these. Look forward to following along! Tires will be a huge first upgrade  Re: Black Betty the BRZ - *insertusernamehere* - 03-23-2017 I really never thought of these cars much until I drove it and holy shit. Perfect car. Will buy in the future. Re: Black Betty the BRZ - Senor_Taylor - 03-24-2017 I drove this car today I really really liked it. Honestly most of the excitement was just how nice cars newer than 15 years old are. (Some day!!!!) The VVT completely changes the motor above 4-5k. Subaru is really killing it with their clutches. The shift feel in this and the new WRX is so smooth. It is a little more isolated from the road than I'm used to, but what isn't compared to a Miata? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Black Betty the BRZ - King_swizz - 03-28-2017 Four days ago, Taylor, Ryan, and myself installed my Invidia N1 catback system. There isn't anything notable to mention about the install. It went smoothly, too smoothly. Literally took us like 20 minutes with the 3 of us working on it. Everything fit perfectly, no leaks, still working out that new pipe smell tho. The tips sit just slightly off-center, but that's something I'll work on later. The new and the old: ![]() ![]() ![]() After the install: ![]() ![]() ![]() In my opinion, it sounds great. It drones a tad bit in like 1st-5th gear, but when you get into 6th at highway speed it's quiet enough to carry on a conversation in the cabin without having to yell. Not going to bother including a video because I feel like it won't do it justice. Y'all can just hear it in person. Re: Black Betty the BRZ - Senor_Taylor - 03-28-2017 Honestly yeah, it has such a nice time that a camera can't pick up, there's no need to make a video. That install was smooth but it's probably due to the fact that the car is brand new. Haha Glad you like it! BRZ is HIGH on my to-buy list one day. A simple, no nonsense car. Watching the price to see when a lower mileage examples can be had for 10-12k. I suspect in the next 2-3 years. Re: Black Betty the BRZ - King_swizz - 04-19-2017 ![]() So I ordered a thing. Or things. Should be here In like a week, and I'm pretty pumped. |
