I mean, that's why people buy BMW's, right? And put up with all the dumb ///Deutchscheiße that comes along with it? For the tail?

I just want to say, I've been to germany and austria a few times, and I never bothered to figure out how to type that "SS" letter ...I appreciated the effort.
It's called an eszett

YES PLEASE

That motor in the F Pace would be nuts...that motor in the lightweight aluminum XE would be bonkers

Supercharged-V8 everything

Man that'd be dope. A stuper-SUV is way down my list of automotive priorities but damn if that isn't an exciting idea.

The XE with 550 hp would certainly be something I'd be down for, as long as they put at least a DCT in it. They'd also have to do some work on the styling to make it look more muscular to match the engine.

My buddy just bought a new X5M and then threw a Dinan tune on it...700+ hp in that thing I'm like why?! But it's awesome!

Yeah I would be really curious if they "SVR" it out with extra body cues, spoiler etc. like they did with the XFR and even more with the XFRS / XKRS / XKRS GT. Have you tried the ZF 8 speed in these? It's actually very good and shifts extremely fast, and I believe they are more durable at those power levels than the DCTs and more daily driveable.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 04-18-2016

Friend of mine has an X5M. I'm always like why? But then he pushes the go pedal and it makes me smile every damn time. I fully support high hp luxo SUVs.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 04-18-2016

I secretly want an SQ5...

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 04-25-2016

So the 718 Cayman has been announced, surprising exactly no one. The bumps in power and torque should make for a significantly faster car on track, and it looks like Porsche made some substantial handling improvements. I see people saying stuff like, "Porsche guys are not gonna buy a 4 cylinder" but most snooty P car guys wouldn't buy a Cayman in the first place. As long as this car doesn't sound like ass I'm sure it'll sell even better than the 981.

I don't think I'd buy one, at least until they make another GT4 and I could somehow afford one.

It's 40% STI, 60% Porsche.

And then Audi drops the new TTRS with more power and sub 4 second 0-60:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Steve85 - 04-25-2016

I think I saw one of those TTs in Boyce yesterday. Was driving on 340 and a blue TT came by with the white and black swirly camo on the front and rear bumpers. As we passed through an intersection moments later there was a line of camo Audis lead by an R8 Spyder. I was wondering why the otherwise normal looking TT had camo bumpers.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 04-25-2016

718 with that kind of performance, looks, and rumble for sub $50k? That's nice.

Edit: not to mention high 60s for an S? Noice.

Quote:Nissan has
shocked automotive world introducing
a 400HP engine that weights a scant
40kg (88lbs).
Named the DIG-T R, the 3 cylinder 1.5
liter engine has a power to weight ratio
of 10HP per kilo, besting even high
performance Formula 1 engines.
Carried aboard Nissan’s Zero
Emmision ZEOD the 500mm tall,
400mm long, and 200mm wide (19.68
x 15.74 x 7.78 in) package is one of
the most compact performance
engines every built and follows
Nissan’s new design goal of reducing
size and weight to achieve greater
performance.

still very impressive but that's not a "complete" engine. the turbo alone is probably 20 pounds additional.

if they figure out how to not make it lag though, holy crap that would be the ultimate golf cart upgrade

Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 05-04-2016

Isn't this old news from like 2 years ago?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 05-12-2016

I've probably watched this 10 times and still have no idea what just went on here: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/fu ... rburgring/

Rears locked up then fronts. Really that big of a rear brake bias to front or?

Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 05-12-2016

Mechanical failure? That's what testing is for. Good news is it sounds like a big ole v8 and not a turbo v6 like the rumors said.

Yeah possibly diff issue? :dunno: I'm sure this thing is going to be badass regardless. Should put the 350R to shame. I wonder if it will keep with a z06. My guess is N/A V8 with a beefed up tune or some other improved stuff.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 05-13-2016

Diff or trans probably shat itself.

What makes you think any of this?

It sounds like a V8. It has to make more power than the zl1. They I hope will make it faster than a 350r
