Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 05-22-2013 Eh, I don't really care about used games and/or DRM. I like selling my games back, but it's not a requirement for me. I buy maybe two games a year, so I'm not sure it's worth it to upgrade... although I do need a Blu Ray player eventually. Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 05-22-2013 Apoc Wrote:So, should I care about the XBox One? IMHO, no. A: I haven't yet been given a reason what this console "upgrade" is supposed to do that we don't already have 99% of in the current gen consoles. Sure, boatloads (for a console) of RAM is nice but is it going to have some colossal bloated OS? B: No backwards compatibility. Now, while the 360 has enjoyed a limited catalog of XBox games...(487/967 at last count) the XBox One (which sold twice as well as the original xbox) has 952 titles...and you're gonna tell me I can't play them on my "new" xbox? Horsecrap. C: Microsoft spent nearly the entire presentation either talking NOT about video games or talking about shit that I'm already going to buy and already play on my Xbox. "Forza 5 ZOMG!" Ok, well, it's not a goddam shock that there's gonna be a new Forza game, now is there? "HOLY SHIT CALL OF DUTY! WITH DOGS!" Oh, like the insanely popular call of duty franchise wasn't going to be on the new XBox? Come the fuck on. Tell me why I SHOULD buy this thing, not why I am "probably gonna". Sell it to me for fuck's sake. If this unveiling is indicative of how it's going to be actually sold and marketed, well...maybe HL3 will be a "steam-box" exclusive and I'll just buy that. Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Ken - 05-22-2013 I don't see what the big deal is about backward compatibility. I guess it's just cause I'm not the type to go back and play an old game. Which is precisely why showing me forza cinco and call of duty: dogfort were the wrong things to show. Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 05-22-2013 This sums it up pretty well... Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Evan - 05-22-2013 Xbox360 = PowerPC Xbox One = x86 If you thought there was ever a possiblity of backwards compatibility you werent paying attention. (and same goes for PS4) onwards and upwards Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 05-22-2013 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Ken Wrote:I don't see what the big deal is about backward compatibility. I guess it's just cause I'm not the type to go back and play an old game. Wat? It's a good use of resources. Building, debugging, and supporting an emulator isn't what 99% of people give a damn about. The remaining 1% is .5% trolls and .5% folks who genuinely want and would use backwards compatibility for longer than 6 months after release. Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 05-22-2013 JPolen01 Wrote:It's lazy on their part for not making backwards compatibility. No Child Left Behind really did a number on our young people, didn't it? Anyway, it's all based on DirectX...if the Xbox!!11one is abandoning the DirectX API's for something new I think that's a completely retarded idea and if they aren't then it was a conscious decision not to offer backwards compatibility, not some weird technical glitch that would have made it "too complex" to implement. My library of games I've purchased over the past 8 years does have a few titles that I return to semi-regularly. Civilization Revolution, for example, Skyrim and Fallout for another. If those titles have to be played on my XBox360 then why shouldn't I buy a PS4 instead of an XBoxOne? MSFT could have "locked me in" a little better by offering what should be simple functionality but instead they were like "BUT YOU CAN WATCH TEH YOUTUBES WHILE YOU PLAY NFL2K14!" Awesome, I guess. Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 05-22-2013 It would be nice for the Xbox One to be backwards compatible but that's not something that really pissed me off or would make me not buy it. Right now I'm playing Forza 4 and Halo 4 so by the time the next iteration of those franchises comes out I won't be playing those anyway. Granted, I might not buy a Xbox One. Destiny is going to 360, PS3, PS4, and XboxOne so I can pretty much pick and choose. Hopefully I won't end up skipping this generation. This is entirely unsurprising given the change in processor architecture. Software emulation of the Xbox 360's three core, six thread, 3.2 GHz PowerPC processor on an eight core, x86 processor expected to run at around 2GHz is technically unfeasible. Well, I'm not going to NOT buy a new xbox just because it won't play 360 games. BUT, it certainly isn't a reason TO buy it over a PS4, or a new PC gaming rig. That's my point. I got the distinct impression (and I watched the whole reveal) that this wasn't a "Here's why you millions of current 360 owners should be excited about this new console!" but rather a "HEY! HEY! DO YOU LIKE CALL OF DUTY? WELL FUCK SON, WE GOT THAT SHIT, AND IT'S GOT DOGS IN IT!" Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 05-22-2013 I wont be switching to a PS4 cause no one fucking plays a PS3. I coukd careless about the other features. Give me xbox live, updated graphics, the titles I want, and Iam sold. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 05-22-2013 Not being able to bring a game over to your friends house to play it (and instead having to tote your whole freaking XBOX there) is really the only annoying factor. Or vice versa being able to let a friend borrow the game to try it out before they play it. I'll pick up a One just because my XBOX is OLD (pre-wifi) and it is starting to make weird whirring noises when I am pwning noobs. RROD is not far off I fear.
