Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 03-18-2016 Yes, you can use your own modem for Comcast. I used a Moto Surfboard and my own router when I had Comcast to avoid their rental/leasing fees. Not sure if there is anything better out there. I own my modem on the bet that it would last a year and I would save money long term. I was right. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 03-21-2016 For what it's worth I purchased our modem from verizon and it works great. No dead spots in the house and no problems so far. :knocks on wood: Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 03-21-2016 Sully Wrote:On this topic, my router is currently....ummm like 14 years old so we need to upgrade too. I have horrible connection most time since Comcast "upgraded" our modem. And super slow. I actually switch to my mobile data quite a bit while at home. My question is can I buy any modem to replace their shittastic one? And then I'll probably pick up a new router at some point. Yes and no - they should provide their own "certified" list you can choose one and try and purchase on Amazon. That way they can't bullshit if for whatever reason you have to call for support and they try to blame it on your modem. That being said, any DOCSIS 3.0 capable unit should be just fine for your modem. I've had my eye on this onehttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B0111MRLES/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=Y27KEZNGW0UH&coliid=I3CWX3R7IJQH2Q&psc=1 just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-21-2016 Buy the best approved modem you can and pick up a really nice router. Worth every penny!! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-22-2016 After the battery has cycled a few times from 0% to 100%, my opinion of the S7 battery life is much better. I get through a full day of usage with some light browsing and heavy calls / Bluetooth connectivity since I use this for work and I'm at about 50%. Not terrible! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-25-2016 For those running the sound bars, how do you handle the video inputs. Do you have enough ports on your tvs and just do it that way. Do the sound bars have video pass through and switching? Could you add a second zone? We currently have a onkyo 7.1 av receiver. But it's old and doesn't have hdmi. But it does have a a second zone where it turns off two of the 7 and turns on the other two, which we have outside. It's kinda useless cause you can't separate the zones which I think on new models, you can. My ultimate question is would it be better to upgrade just the receiver with a hdmi model or scrap the whole system for sound bar plus two rear speaker setup. I'm not worried about losing the 7 channels cause the room isn't setup for it and the speaker location are so bad that we're getting absolutely no benefit from the extra speakers. They're also old style and giant blocks which doesn't look the greatest mounted on the wall. Things I'd like to keep though would be second zone (but add being able to listen to different sources in different zones) and a hdmi hub so to speak. I have a Blu ray player, a 360, and the cable box. The TV may have 3 ports but I'd have to check and we may want to add another source at some point Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 03-25-2016 Sound bars are very limited, most have 1 or 2 in/1out If you have that much going into your TV and you don't plan on upgrading the TV anytime, just upgrade the receiver. I don't have dual zone, but snagged this up like a year ago, and it has worked well... <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/denon-700w-5-2-ch-4k-ultra-hd-a-v-home-theater-receiver-black/3510572.p?id=1219583810531&skuId=3510572">http://www.bestbuy.com/site/denon-700w- ... Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-30-2016 Hey, the case you want isn't on amazon so go company direct and enjoy your normal peasant shipping times. Oh hey your case is sitting at the local post office as of Monday. Should be here Tuesday. You've done so good with your glass phone for those 2 weeks. Hey we are a bunch of fuck wits and can't ship something in a timely manner to save our fucking lives. It would sure be a shame if you dropped it today right before you left work. We'll have that case on your doorstep when you get home! Because fuck me, right?! I swear to fucking God if that case is sitting at my door when I get home, I'm going to fucking murder someone. In case you haven't figured it out, my Galaxy s7 now has a textured rear glass. Fuck my life! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 03-30-2016 So anyone use 3rd party insurance? I usually bought discounted phones via 2yr contract and added on the accidental insurancento my monthly plan. With the 6p and paying full price for it, I kinda wanna get something to cover me if something happens. Especially since this phone is apparently somewhat fragile. Recently read about Upsie, $59, $25 deductible, 2yrs, thinking about giving it a shot. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-30-2016 Do you count auison or whatever through Verizon as 3rd party? That's what I have. I'm debating if I want to continue to paying off a broken phone or bite the bullet and pay the $149 deductible and get a replacement. Unfortunately the replacements are usually used if I recall but a phone this new shouldn't really have many used replacement phones floating around one would think. If I was a year in or a year and six months, I doubt I'd do anything but the damn thing is two weeks old and I still owe like $600 on it. What would everyone else do? My case will cover it but I mean shit is brand new Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 03-30-2016 Sully Wrote:My case will cover it Question answered. If it's just the back I wouldn't sweat it. You won't see it ever after you get the case on. No sense in spending more money on something you can't see Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 03-31-2016 droppers. lulz. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 03-31-2016 Check your credit card policies. When I bought my iPhone 6, it got dropped (not by me) at VIR a few days into ownership. Shattered the screen. I bought it with my Discover card though, and they have a no-questions-asked replacement policy for the first 90 days of ownership. I called, they told me to go get it fixed/replaced through Apple and charge it to the same card, and they'd credit my account for whatever that cost was. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-31-2016 I didn't buy my phone though. It's technically a lease I guess. And the amount I did put on my card was a debit card. But I walk out of the house this morning to go to work and a truck I kinda recognize pulls up in front of the house. Guy in a police uniform (or prison guard or something) gets out with a big envelope and starts walking towards me. And I kinda recognize him but it's dark and my first thought is that I'm being served and I'm like what the hell did I do. Well he says he thinks this was delivered to him by mistake and that it belongs to this house. Yea guess wtf it was. Not sure if it showed up yesterday or if sat at his house for an extra day but damn, missed it by this much type of feeling. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |
