I love reading comments because I have confirmation bias towards the belief that most humans are terrible.

You know what's better than talking politics?

literally anything.

The point you're trying to make, you're doing it very poorly.

This isn't an airport, you don't have to announce arrivals and departures.

in the moment? no. but over time views shift, and democracy doesnt work well if the people are not informed.

Yeah I didn't mean it like that Sad

(I took that bit out)

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Jake - 10-12-2020

Yeah, see, politics matter to a lot of people. Who gets elected for a LOT of positions matters, at the federal level and locally. I care about who's getting elected as Senators in other states right now. My standing as an American with equal rights under the law is at risk, and I don't have equal rights as it is.

So take the privilege of "harhar politics isn't fun to talk about because nobody likes my OANN headline talking points" and try again, bud. YOU may have the privilege of things not changing much no matter the outcomes of November 3, but I and many others understand what's at stake for ourselves and people not like us. And this is a lovely spot to discuss what's going on among friends who don't all think the same but generally have empathy for others.

Basically this. If you come into a political discussion spouting awful arguments and repetitive bullshit far right wing talking points, get shit on for it, then go "lalala politics isn't fun, HARUMPH" you're showing your privilege and the echochamber in which you live.

But mentioning Matt Gaetz in a serious manner told us that a while ago.

I think it took me a long time to understand this.  Vote, donate, repeat.

In case anyone was curious about how socialist (yes, literal socialist) politics are impacting our city.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - .RJ - 10-16-2020

how is this 'socialist' ? Has the city gov't seized control of microzondobebook?

for sure the city has problems but it all sounds to me like shitty management from over here.

All the changes are being driven by "democratic socialists" on the city council. These are the people who think the police's only function is to oppress the people.

The ring leader also wanted to seize governmental control of Boeing and retool the machines to produce mass transit.

They also completely defunded the team that connects homeless to support services because it's oppressive: https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/north-seattle-neighbors-complain-about-smoke-noise-metal-shop-constructed-homeless-encampment/2BIIZIYZ2FGFXLKEIJOD67A3VY/

I don’t live in Seattle so I don’t know the nuances of what’s going on so I don’t care to comment, but I looked up the “Navigation Team” that article mentioned and this made me lol. You boys really need that ladder for that extremely treacherous terrain?

Any policy change or rule enforcement without significant popular support of the electorate is going to be a cluster and doomed to fail. Sounds like Seattle has a few holier-than-thou people that have literally no checks being placed on them and are implementing change without consideration for practicality. That's not really democracy anymore.
