I was going to 3rd the vote for banning Taylor on his disrespect of white, but it turns out some vehicles CAN look bad in white, such as this 4dr ambulance brick!

Re: What is your car buying future? - Senor_Taylor - 07-15-2016

Chan, if you want to see a car that looks bad in white, just go look in your garage.

What is wifey looking at? And I agree, wifey should be able to buy whatever the hell makes her happy (assuming it's not a death trap or otherwise unsuitable for transportation).

Re: What is your car buying future? - Apoc - 07-15-2016

She can buy whatever makes her happy, with her money. That's why you make sure they don't work! (j/k... or am I?)

That happy wife bullshit drives me nuts. Marriage is a mutual thing.

Re: What is your car buying future? - G.Irish - 07-15-2016

I always took 'happy wife, happy life' to mean one should spend effort on your partner's happiness, not that it's a servile thing or that wifey should be appeased at all costs :dunno:

For me ultimately the car has to be something she wants to drive and will be happy with, even if it's not what I would've chosen myself. I just try to give her the best advice possible and helped her pick it out, which resulted in her buying a twin turbo X3...

I agree with your philosophy in general but I mean shit it can't be faster than my car.

Yeah a M5 is a far more interesting and quick baby-mobile. But at the very least we wanted a hatch of some sort and she no like wagons (not that there are many cool ones to choose from). A Macan was in the hunt and it would've been pretty quick but it's way too pricey.

One of the reasons for the SUV is not bending down to put baby in the seat. I have to admit it does seem easier on the back then when I put her in the M.

A vast majority of the time I've heard it used is in the context of men making sacrifices because her happiness is paramount.

Someone we know that doesn't have kids said that to us when we bought the wagon. I don't buy it. Yeah, you don't have to bend... but you also have to lift them as toddlers and all their crap higher to get it in. I guess time will tell for us.

That's cute.

She makes more money than I do up until this year when I got past her. Yet since we have been married, I have a z06 corvette, 36' goose neck trailer, a truck, and a 40k race car. She has been driving around a 15k Jeep compass. She deserves something a little nicer if we can afford it.

Happy wife happy life is just a reminder that sometimes women dole on us a lot, and as men we just tend not to think as much about it. Time to get her dream car now that we can afford it

Well wife is stuck, since our recent acqusition of the SAABlazer. Ive been contemplating selling the Jeep, and we both are thinking along the lines of a car, 4 doors, preferably AWD. So I am trying to convince her a EVO/STi is a good idea as a DD or even a IS250/350. We both have a commute of 10 minutes to something that gets 45MPG isn't really a necessity. After today I want something with seat coolers.

Sold SAAB in March of 15, acquired 16 CX5 in May/June of 15, it is on a lease, if we have a 2nd kid, that may be turned in for a new CX7

Sold the JEEP and got the Fozzy, so that fit in the 4dr/AWD bucket, and was sold.

Even with a 10 minute commute I ended up in the Prius for the desire to just drive something that works, which will likely stay around for a while.

After things settle down with the house stuff I want to get into something old and simple (late 60s or into 70s Japanese or Domestic), whether that is something that is driveable and needs TLC or something long term like finally taking on this F100 project that has been around for 10 years....who knows.

Keeping tabs on the Japanese Classics site to see what cool stuff they get in.

First, never listen to anything anyone without kids has to say about having kids. Even if they mention shit they had to do with their Niece/Nephew/friends kid. Not your kid, your 1hr of experience when you went out with them to Target yesterday is worthless.

Coming from someone who had an SUV (97X) and a Wagon (Fozzy) during their kids first 2.5yrs it is a pain either way. The SUVs larger door opening was beneficial, but the added height caused issues when the kid got bigger and the travel seat reached 40-45lbs.

Once they are out of the god awful 30lb (w/o kid) travel carrier, it ain't that big of a deal anymore.

Ha, just meant the wife can have any car she wants, just can't be faster than mine (actually that'd be fine). Those turbos scoot! I had a pinch of regret when I saw my first Macan a few days after getting the Jeep, but yeah I don't think we would've spent that much and the space of the Jeep has come in handy.

My wife said no wagons too. :dunno:

Also, white car master race checking in.

Re: What is your car buying future? - ScottyB - 07-17-2016

i guess i'm in the minority...getting a kid out of a car seat that's jacked up to chest level in an SUV sucks. much easier for mine to either get into the car himself or for me to drop him into his seat when its my car vs. the wife's xterra. i'd be way happier if we just had a wagon on multiple levels.
