Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - .RJ - 06-27-2011 thats not mind blowing, thats mind raping. Your ipad choked the one and only time I've seen it demoed. The Transformer has been awesome on my trip (in an airport bar right now) but anyone who says you're going to do any heavy internetting without a keyboard or non-mobile OS is full of shit. Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - WRXtranceformed - 06-27-2011 The transformer is perfect for the morning constitutional. I can surf CNN, listen to Pandora with one hand and wipe my ass with the other. My Transformer chokes, the regular laptop and desktop don't... which is kinda my point. Tablet form factors have their place, but they aren't going to fulfill 100% of what people are used to doing on the internet. People like to talk it up, but I'd say the overlap is more like 80%. They really are just a bigger phone sans the phone part. I'm getting stupid hours out of one charge with this thing. Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - Apoc - 06-28-2011 My point was that you tried to see an ipad bash, so you saw an ipad bash and not what was really there. Pretty sure this is bashing all tablets: Apoc Wrote:anyone who says you're going to do any heavy internetting without a keyboard or non-mobile OS is full of shit. Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - Apoc - 06-28-2011 Correction: Tablets can't easily update 944 Cup standings while arguing with Mike on MM on my couch. Sincerely, Chris on his Latitude from his couch Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - Mike - 06-29-2011 yessssss.... ya, they're a far ways off from being a replacement for laptops, but if you're traveling or just want to surf the web, they can't be beat. heck, i can even support my IT clients with one... the only thing i think they really fail at is content creation/manipulation, which i don't do too often. Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - Apoc - 06-29-2011 IMO, tablets are perfect where you'd settle for using your phone but would really appreciate a bigger screen and/or input mechanism. Now that I have one, I seriously doubt my laptop will leave the table by my couch because I use my desktop for movie/image editing and finance schtuff. The irony of my setup is I've grown to hate processing pictures because that means I have to go into the office and sit down at my desk. It's just so... official. Blah. Having used a 10" netbook for one trip and a 10" tablet for another this past month, there are clear + and - for each form factor. For one, I can tell you a netbook does not work on an ERJ 145 when the dude in front of you reclines his seat. On the other hand, there's no way I'm typing a 500 word article on a tablet on aforementioned ERJ 145. Instead, I just played http://gunbros.glu.com/ (thanks for the tip Lee!). The internet on my tablet is faster than that on my Latitude. Take that as you will. (I know, Dell sucks.) Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - WRXtranceformed - 06-29-2011 I'm saving for a really good gun but it takes forever unless you link a Facebook account. Right now I have two of the upgraded baller pistols, a bunch of armor and about $18k in the bank

I don't think I've opened it in like a week 'cause I use the home screen widget... but I haven't had that happen. Re: What are kids usin' these days for class laptops? - WRXtranceformed - 07-06-2011 No mine doesn't...I have Google calendar and outlook calendar synced together. I had an issue with the outlook calendar but I think it was an issue on my company's end...I just deleted the account and then set it up again and it was fine. |
