Oculus plus decent pedals??? Holy balls! This just changed my entire stance on it from fun hobby to I can see why this would produce good drivers! Too bad I can’t do more than 30 minutes before being a bit woozy. Hopefully that’ll subside

Just got an email about iRacing's black friday sale. 30% off of 1 year or 2 years. I definitely see myself putting a lot of time in the game in the next year after having it for the last 2 months. Only question is, think it will be a bigger discount closer to black friday or is this as low as it'll get?
I'm also hoping they'll have a sale on some cars and tracks as I'm still on the free content 2 months in. Was planning on picking up a GT3 car and maybe the Skip since it has such good reviews, but the thought of dropping $30 on cars then 2-3x that much on tracks is a little sickening on top of a $80 a year membership..

Nice! I guess I need to check my "Promotions" emails closer. Paying the two year price per year right now.

I've been off and on for a few years now and the new PC definitely has me back. Still only with the free stuff except VIR, I think I had to buy that.

Got my first win a few days ago and a second last night in the Global Mazda series. Pretty low SOF but I have the iRating going in the right direction. With the old computer, I could do well enough in solo practice but the car would be really laggy in races. It always felt like everything changed and it was hard to adjust. It was near impossible to save the car from any mistake and I could swear things like braking points would change.

Now if I'm able to manage say a 1:04 in practice, I can still run that in a race with 10-12 cars on track. It's also kind of nice to have the graphics turned up so the track isn't basically pavement in an open field.

want to just borrow / renew my account I'm not using? I have most of the good road racing tracks, not that many extra cars but I do have the skippy

I've been looking to get into iRacing in the near future. It has really been taking off these past few years and I just love how realistic it is. I have some experience on Assetto Corsa and I can run consistently quick-ish laps over fairly long stints. Does anyone have any advice? Also, I need the whole set up. I don't have anything.

I 100% recommend it. Still playing occasionally but I've been too busy to put a lot of time in. I use an old Logitech driving force GT wheel from ps3 and its not great but it works fine. No clutch, and just a sequential shifter+buttons that act as paddles but its not a huge deal. They're on ebay for ~$60-80. A year subscription was $70 on black friday which seems steep but its like buying 1 AAA game a year, and in my opinion is definitely worth it. If you don't have at least a desktop with a standalone graphics card you will probably run into some issues, and gaming PCs aren't super expensive, but idk what your budget is.

I really only played maybe once a month but I’m starting to get more into it by joining leagues with guys I know.

I’ll never compete with the guys putting 800+ hours a year (yess wtf?!?!!!!!???) but I have a lot of fun and I do think it helps me stay up to speed.

I have a G25 wheel/pedals/shifter I don't seem to be using, if you're interested.
As far as the PC goes, it doesn't have to be much if you plan to run a single screen. Triple monitors or VR you'll want to do some research. Single screen is decent as long as you have a plan to plant it about a foot in front of you.

If anyone does decide to join in on Iracing, there is a "Gridlife" Iracers league that is huge and has plenty of good talent.

Well, now I've got an iRacing profile with the set up currently at MAAP lol. I've been enjoying it and already grabbed a few wins in both road and oval (Well, 1 in road 2 in oval. 10 starts each) I know Ryan plays occasionally, anyone else have the time to jump on there?
