Oh btw...long term, diesel is still going to be cheaper than gas. Historically it has tracked somewhere around 50 cents less than a gas per gallon..this latest spike will probably recede back to those kind of levels, don't you think?
Oh btw - koons chevrolet had a nice, bright ass red MS3 on the lot used 2 weeks ago..might still be there..it was looking good.

You're still on planet deersty, way out in WV.
I dont own anything long term, we all know this. Right now diesel is $.50 *more* than premium on the way to work - $3.75 vs. $4.25 (maybe things are different out in the sticks, but thats not where I am so it doesnt matter) and most stations dont have diesel.
And I dont want to spend "new car" money. See above about long term ownership.

yeah, that was more of an aside. this is the same reason I haven't bought a diesel yet. On the other side of the coin though, and i am completely not researching this before i say it, but I'd think diesels are probably going to come down in price as more hit the market with the owners dumping them. I saw an 01 TDI with 65k miles on it for 6500$ on autotrader or something a while back..seemed like a pretty good deal. If you were going to buy something and keep long term, I'd expect diesel to return to its normal amount less than gas.

The 1.6L diesels in those VWs will literally run forever. They did a transplant of one of those into Suzuki Samurai on that show 4x4 and that chick host said it would run for 400k+ miles no problem. I agree that it doesn't really make sense for you to get a car like that if you're like me and go through cars every couple of years.

They will last *exactly* 100,000 miles unless you change the timing belts.
The funny bit is that the engine never gave my parents any trouble. It was a breeze. It started easy and ran fine. Never any engine trouble.
CEL's, brakes, interior trim, locks, radio on the other hand...

Believe me when I tell you that it's royal pain in the dick to worry about logistics like that. If I were you, I would think about borrowing your mom's shit for a few months unless what Derecola says is true.

i know your considering the 92-93, but what about the DC tegs? They're relatively cheap, you already know the inner workings, and you know you don't really need to worry about the maintenance. For the sake of having something different i don't blame you for looking for somehting else, but if you're not going to keep it for that long or take it across the country, you don't have to worry about it.
i think a nice stock 98-01 teg (ls/gs/se) with the amenities you want would be great for your needs/wants. the power is hurting a little though.

Really? I always thought the LS engine was the best of the bunch for integras. IMO, DA > DC (except for the oatmeal shifter... ), but I could daily drive a DC.

just for the 140bhp, the engine is stout. not to mention 87 octane. no complaints here. i just like the feel and the amenities of the newer cars i guess.
i'm pretty happy with how much money i don't spend on the teg (except for the routine maintenance that hit recently...)
