Keep in mind 330i's are somewhat less likely to suffer from the RACP cracking/tearing apart/trunk floor falling off the car, but they still have the same underlying problems. You can pretty much guarantee almost all E46's will have cracks at this point.

I'm aware, Stephen. I'm really on the hunt for something with a lot of the hard stuff taken care of. I'll pay a premium but save heartache. I'm over buying cheap cars because you end up paying more in the end.

:0 who hacked your account?

8k on an E46 330i is a lot. You’ll get something good in that range.

Talking to you guys in person is much more enlightening than squabbling over the internet. I blame Joey for settling me down and convincing me not everything can be fixed with spray paint and a strong work ethic.

Another Chapter comes to an end.

Had a few people coming to look this week, one guy seemed particularly interested. I planned to WFH after lunch so I could handle a quick sell. That did not happen. The guy rolled up in a Saab Wagon and started looking. I pointed out every single thing I could think was wrong with the car. Then he asked about the sunroof. I informed him it had always worked fine except the headliner sagged a tad; I encouraged him to give it a try.

What happens?

The headliner gets jammed in the ceiling, of course. So I spent 30 minutes ripping it out and tearing up my headliner to get the sunroof to close. All the while thinking about the offer he gave me that was $200 less than what I even paid for the car. Understandable, I overpaid and the maintenance I did doesn't really add that much value when you consider how royally I borked the starter and how bad the oil leak has gotten. After getting the sunroof closed, we agree on a price that was a bit lower than what I originally planned, but at this point, any money I get is more than I started the day with and I'd be happy. The only stipulation on this agreement was that I drive the E30 to Maryland for him and he would drive me back. Fair enough, I can't sell a car in good faith that I wouldn't trust to drive myself. The only problem is the 100 year old tires on the bent bottle caps. Oh well, time for an adventure. I go to get in the seat and notice the carpet is completely saturated. I ask if he had noticed and he said no, so I pointed it out to him and offered him $100 off as a gesture of me being a polite idiot. He agreed and we set off to Maryland.

"One hour" he said. Waze says it's 2 hours... TO BALTIMORE. So it ended up being an awesome drive in a (Now very well running) E30 as my final hurrah. I put the wrong plugs in before I sold it, so it would occasionally stumble if you're WOT above 5k RPM, but it was no matter to keep the revs low with the gobs of torque that motor has. I dropped the car off and he did about 100 MPH through downtown Baltimore and I made it back home in under 4 hours round trip.

SOLD

Congrats on selling the car, sometimes it's just worth having it out of your hair.

I'm over the moon. I had my fun. One more day until the GTI can sleep in the garage and I can focus on getting rid of the 4Runner

There are far worse ways to waste time and money in your 20s my friend. Between dates with women not particularly interesting nor interested, supplements and bar tabs I'm pretty I've wasted more than you put into this car and got even less out the experiences.

Taylor I think we've all jokingly beat you up on this enough here and you've beat yourself up enough over it, but he's got a point.  I used to spend in bar tabs every month what you probably had in that thing.  At least you were able to recoup something from your bad decision, all I'm left with is a (probably) bad liver  Big Grin

Except like a true masochist, he’s already looking at another Bavarian bank-drainer

I'd like to request Tay Tay add bought and sold dates to cars in his signature.

RE: DirtE30 - 1990 BMW 325i - Senor_Taylor - 10-18-2018

That's an idea
