Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - *insertusernamehere* - 01-09-2017

It's like halfway there. I got this covered.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-12-2017

Power steering rack came in but wanted to update what we still need:

1. 11531289377 (heater hose) (its an M20 heater hoses from cylinder heat to heater core)
2. Coolant Drain Bolt + washer for block
3. Slave Cylinder Hard line
4. Banjo bolt that goes into pump (the one that connects to the line from the rack itself)
5. Brake Lines #10/11/12 we talked about.

SlimKlim Wrote:5: Either #22: 21522282355 or #11: 21521160291. The diagram is a little ambiguous. Assuming it's the shorter hard line that connects directly to the slave, then it's gotta be #22, the first P/N. You'd think the diagram would show the P/N for the hard line coming off #12 in the illustration, or that i'd be part of #12, but when you search for that it just returns a soft line. (although the P/N for #12 is 21521159350, ,might as well be thorough.)

Thanks DJ, I have a cart ready to check out, any thoughts on which P/N for the slave cylinder hard line that's needed? I checked a few sites for #22, but they describe it as a flex hose

and the banjo bolt, #2 or #6?

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-13-2017

#22 for the hard line

#6 for the power steering.

order went in around lunch but I forgot they close early today. Haven't seen a shipping # yet, so unfortunately it might not go out until next week. Sad

Some stuff came in!

[Image: 16105622_10103573535892299_2297070937993...e=591704F7]

Picked up Redline fluids, Power steering, Transmission, Differential and Engine oils:
[Image: 16113208_10103562957945589_7076064784018...e=5913B451]

Also got some time the other night to get in an hour or two. Tack-welded the trans studs and rustoleomed the chassis around the studs.
Hooked up the shifter and hooked up the transmission mounts.

Hooked up power steering lines. Since the stock lines were cut, I had to modify the E36 lines to work. This took a bit of time, but it's all ready to go (minus the bolt that is now in!).

Went to go bolt up the guibo and couldn't put it back in. Stopped and picked up a new one. Ouch they have gotten expensive.

Hopefully we are done and on the home stretch in terms of ordering parts. Lots and lots of work to go but hoping to have it done by Turducken.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - Senor_Taylor - 01-20-2017

Giubos used to be cheaper?

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-20-2017

Senor_Taylor Wrote:Giubos used to be cheaper?

Much cheaper, almost 1/2. Lemforder no longer makes them.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-23-2017

Progress is going a bit slower than I had hoped this weekend. I ended up spending 99% of my "garage time" this weekend organizing, hanging more shelves and setting up my new toolbox.

I did make some progress, but also discovered some more stuff that should be replaced. (or tell me to STFU). It was a rough day
Rear shocks are completely blown. They have 0 rebound.
[Image: 16195462_10103580862529659_8233100314360...e=591058D4]
Shock tower mounts are blown as well, (clunk clunk clunk)
https://www.facebook.com/7816010/videos/10103580862150419/
Rusty Brake Lines
Tweaked Radiator (sorry that baller radiator is completely tweaked from the accident, might wan t to see if Bimmerworld has any exchange program? I did find a radiator to use though for $50)
Missing radiator support

Need 2 more hard brake lines that run along the trailing arm, they are rusty too. Thank god you decided to do the main line. I soaked the ones we weren't replacing in penetrating oil but as soon as I hit them with a wrench...an inch down the line it cracked in half. The lines wouldn't have lasted that much longer if we had ignored them.

Trailing arm bushings aren't looking so hot either, but up to you.
[Image: 16195436_10103580862170379_8335733569517...e=5923930B]

I am also missing the idle control valve and associated rubber hoses. Matt do you mind taking a look around to see what you have? Also there are plastic pieces that hold up the radiator in the car. One is missing from the passenger side, maybe Jake Lind has a spare?

Good progress made?

Front brake lines replaced
Wiring harness is in car and mostly assembled. (do you have the stock "wiring cover" that comes with an E30? Also do you have a stock E30 Center Support Bearing for driveshaft?)
Replaced the cut fuel lines and routed them where they need to go
Finished power steering and filled with fluids
Moved the shifter support, for some reason it was bolted in a lower hole and not mounted at the top making the shifter contact the drive shaft. (m20 thing maybe)

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - davej - 01-23-2017

Oh man, is Parts Order Monday here again already?

1. Big Baller Radiator, no worries, I'll kick Matt for selling me damaged goods.
2. Thanks for finding a replacement already, anybody for me to paypal for it, or just send it to you?
3. happen to have a PN for the additional bad brake lines? I can try to get those on the way to you today.
4. Is this the radiator mount you're talking about? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-ra ... 7111178412

I'll see what I can dig up for struts/mounts, I had 1/2 a thought once upon a time of doing billies/h&r or something low key but maybe we'll have to back burner the suspension and bushings for now and see what's left in the war chest when the heavy lifting stuff is done. Could be the first s50 e30 on monroe specials. =D How'd the shock towers look? Any cracks or was it just bad mounts?

I'll hit Matt/James up about the idle control valve.
The wiring cover has to be somewhere here if it wasn't buried in one of those boxes. I'll double check the garage.

Did I overlook anything else you need?

edit: The CSB - did that go with the guy that picked up the m42? I can call him and see if he'll give it back.

Yup, I assumed it was already in the driveshaft you gave me. Definitely see if you can get the CSB from that.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - davej - 01-23-2017

He's gonna check tonight, had no problem sending it back.

No damage to chassis...yet. I mean its blown blown. You will want to replace it at some point. Its a lot cheaper for me to do all this while its apart but I understand.

1. Found a fairly new OEM style S52 radiator - $50 (You should contact bimmerworld to see if they have a replacement thing about the C&R; its not useable in its current state).
2. Brake Lines: 2x 34326755591 (yay not prebent :? )
3. Still need that idle control valve
4. Need that cover (well dont need but it would be nice to clean up the wiring instead of ghetto rigging something)
5. CSB - new one wouldnt hurt but ill leave that up to you
6. Radiator support 17111712347 (bracket), and 2x bumpers (17111178412) unless you have the stock stuff sitting on the old radiator (was taken out before car got to me)

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - davej - 01-24-2017

For the csb, the part number looks like just the bearing, not the housing, so I'll still have Doug get that back to you and order up a fresh bearing for it.
Although wait, which driveshaft are you using? the e36 328i one? would that csb be different than the e30 one? (iirc the e36 m3 driveshaft was the wrong end for the diff?)

I've got a cart ready for #2 and also 2x rear shock mounts. I'll see if I can find a decent deal on some shocks tonight.

I checked the garage last night for the wire cover, but nothing. Any chance it is in the interior of the car? I packed stuff everywhere when bringing it up. I'm sure I can find one from somebody around here, or order one, if not. Same with the radiator support/bumpers.

Got James looking for that idle control valve, have a line on a backup on the left coast if he can't find it.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-26-2017

Lines are falling apart as I go at them.
[Image: 16299023_10103597829278159_1926889289920...e=591DF31F]

Pulling the subframe as there is no way to get to some of this stuff now that it's falling apart.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - SlimKlim - 01-26-2017

I don't know how we did blow all this shit out just holding the brake pedal while we winched it into your garage...

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - EclipseTurbno93 - 01-26-2017

Still haven't checked for the valve, I'll find a minute today or tomorrow hopefully

What's your address? I'll be over in 15 to look for it.

Re: Project: R3D3MPTION? - D_Eclipse9916 - 01-26-2017

^^ All the connectors/hoses are missing Basically the connection from the intake manifold through the ICV to the throttle body boot are all missing.
