I've had bad luck on aftermarket iCables. I dont bother anymore.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 06-17-2015

Casey is pretty hard on her cables with the amount of travel she does. Not a failed Anker cable yet. They have a braided sheath cable as well.

+1 Amazon basics

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 06-18-2015

I'll have to give the Amazon/Anker stuff a shot. The cable I keep in the Yukon is starting to work intermittently because of how I keep resting the phone in the cupholder - it's bending at too extreme an angle and starting to fray internally I think.

That said, all of the iCables I have now were bought when I got my iPhone 5 (they're Apple cables) and one of four is just starting to fail. Not all bad but I really don't want to pay their pricing to replace it.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 06-18-2015

I bought an 6ft Anker cable. It was a bit pricey compared to others, but they have great reviews. And it looks pretty snazzy. Amazon basic cables look extremely cheap imo.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 06-18-2015

i use a amazon lightning cable in the car. pretty rough with it... no problems. i also dig that it is black (maybe the anker is too?) because white is lame.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 06-18-2015

I got the Anker cable in space gray to match my phone

May have been covered before but I don't think so. Looking for a small speaker. Bluetooth or wired(i really don't care cause I don't think Bluetooth would be that much more convenient) that has pretty good sound quality and is somewhat loud. Been sitting out on the porch lately, and using my tablet with Pandora hooked to some little crap speaker I bought my dad so he could playback phone recordings for his employees. Looking for something that does music a little better and louder. I don't think this thing is doing much more than my tablet speakers would. When we bought our phones, the guy tried to sell us on an ultimate ears(i think) tube like thing. It sound alright and I liked the button size and look and what not but they are super expensive and what he played for us didn't show me it was worth that but then again it was like a ski video with background music. I'm not looking to break the bank because honestly that little shit speaker has been doing alright but does anyone have some ideas of brands/products to check out

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 06-27-2015

I have an amazon basics Bluetooth speaker. The middle sized one. I'm satisified, use it in the kitchen and on the deck.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 06-27-2015

I was going to recommend the Jawbone Jambox since we got two of them for free as one of the gifts on my company awards trip last year. And then I looked up the price if you buy them and I'm withdrawing my recommendation ha

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ken - 06-28-2015

I got Toni the "TDK Life on Record TREK Max A34" - it goes on sale every now and then so use camelcamelcamel.com to keep track of the price and wait. It's also waterproof which is nice if you forget it in the rain. Great sound - much better than a jambox.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - RawrImAMonster - 06-29-2015

I was given one of these as a gift one year. It's quite loud for the size and the sound quality is good enough for a bluetooth speaker. It's loud enough that I rarely use it on full volume. Not a bad price at <$25 either.

if you dont care about bluetooth, these sound fantastic, an order of magnitude better than any consumer box speaker, and are a great price right now

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 06-29-2015

I would prefer, well require, that's it's wireless as far as power goes at least. I already have several sets of computer speakers lying around the house but they're kind of cumbersome to bring out onto the porch. I would pay a little more for Bluetooth just so when I'm using my phone instead of my tablet, i could still pick it up and look at it and what not

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 06-29-2015

I have one of these - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FGR ... detailpage

decent quality, decent range, decent price. Has been good for me.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Senor_Taylor - 06-29-2015

If we're mentioning PC speakers, these right here are the best purchase I've ever made speaker wise. 5.1 surround and a very nice sub woofer. Bought it during Frog week my freshmen year and it definitely made my room the room to pregame in. Nowadays I leave those in my room in Harrisonburg and use an old Panasonic Stereo as my PC speakers at home.

Had the RA from the 3rd floor in Eagle come up to tell me to turn it down a few times because the down-firing sub was very loud downstairs.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - SlimKlim - 06-30-2015

Kay, my contract is up in a few months and I'm considering coming back to the Android world. After the shitshow experience of owning an OG Droid back when Android 2.0 came out, I went running for Apple and never looked back, but after 2 iPhones I'm ready for something with a replaceable battery and expandable storage. Also like the idea of being able to use Torque on my main device, PS4 remote play, etc.

So I want:
1.) Expandable Storage
2.) Replaceable Battery
3.) Good Camera
4.) Minimal Carrier Software Bloat
5.) I'd like a device that "feels nice", made of decent materials with a little heft to it.

I really liked the idea of the LG G4 on paper, but when I held one in the store it felt it was made out of cardboard, not necessarily a deal breaker, just a little disappointing.

Suggestions?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 06-30-2015

G4 is the only recent phone I can think of that has a card slot and a removable battery. Did you try the G4 version with the leather back? it supposedly has a much better feel.
Zenphone2 has card slot but not battery. Galaxy S5 has both but is a year old (same with G3)

fwiw, I have a G3 and its the best phone Ive ever had by a wide margin and the G4 is a nice update to it.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - SlimKlim - 06-30-2015

Nah they didn't have one in the store but the brown leather back is the one I'd buy. I did some more reading and it sounds like the top contender for what I want.
