I like *looking* at white cars, but they're such a pain to keep clean. Feel free to buy one so I can watch you wash it every 3 days from afar.

White is infinitely better than dark colors. It might show the heavy dirt that gets slung up on it out where you are in the country, but a black car gets visibily dirty just sitting still outside from all the dust and pollen. Light colors like white also hide minor clearcoat damage very well, virtually every time something touches your car it leaves fine scratches in the clearcoat, over black they really show up but white/silver and bright colors don't.

Re: What is your car buying future? - Senor_Taylor - 07-14-2016

I must be jaded by owning a silver car for 4 years and my one white car having really bad paint, but I'll stick to the middle colors like red and yellow and blue if possible.

Re: What is your car buying future? - V1GiLaNtE - 07-14-2016

I've had 3 white cars and they are really not that bad. You're right Taylor, the are lovely to look at. I love the Shadow Mica paint on the T4R, but god that thing shows dust like crazy.

Next 5 years? IDK, the Mrs. talks about a Crosstrek, ND miata or an A4/Allroad. I'd totally be down to get the Miata. For me, I'll definitely keep the T4R for awhile and would love to also have:

- S2000
- P Car
- CTS V Spec V Wagon
- G8 GT
- MS3 (1st Gen) Curious what a 3rd gen would look like if it comes
- Honda Weekend/Track Toy

i Do the same thing, keep checking just to see where prices are going. I really want the Firesand Orange though.

Even now? I havent started shopping yet, but its kind of on my list for replace the VW Wagon since I actually do like having a wagon, and will be living closer to work - might not matter that it only gets 12mpg

Re: What is your car buying future? - SlimKlim - 07-14-2016

We're still in an indecision phase of what to replace the Kia with. I'll open it up to you jackals for suggestions.

Only hard requirements:

-2 Pedals, she will not drive a standard. Full stop.
-Mostly-done-depreciating
-Cool factor
~10k budget or less. Could be flexible for the perfect car

Only serious considerations so far have been 4th Gen 4runner, which she would want in Limited trim because apparently she hates cloth seats. It's tricky but not impossible to find one around the 10k mark, mostly because most of the Limiteds were also V8s.

I have a huge thing for the UZJ100 Land Cruiser but finding one with less than 250k miles for under 10k is pretty damn difficult. Not impossible, but it's still a tough order to fill.

3rd Gen 4runner is out, I still haven't sat in one but literally everyone complains about the legroom, and everyone doing the complaining is a few inches shorter than me, so it's gonna be a no-go.

She is stuck on the idea of another 540i, but I still get night terrors remembering the maintenance required for our old one. I would probably try to push her in the direction of an E46 330i Sport Steptronic and I dunno, find some cool shit to bolt onto it like a set of wheels and an exhaust to help with the cool-ness.

I feel like I recommended this car to someone on this board, and I was told I was slow or something, but I am not slow and this is a great idea for someone here!

and while on paper they're cool, the few reviews i've seen say they kind of suck.

D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Well, I hit the mark on "if I stick with racing" and then also took G's suggestion of an E36/LS1, although that did not last long.

Near Future: Selling or keeping the C5Z and picking up a cheap beater. To get anything better than the C5Z is monstrously expensive or not any better. I get bored with street cars no matter how good they are, just the way it is. I would like to test drive an M2 and GT4 as the Cayman GTS was the single best street car chassis I have ever driven. (IMO)

Oh forgot to mention buying a luxury SUV for the wife. That's what she likes, that is what she wants, and I dont give a fuck what you guys think. Happy Wife = Happy Life

And in 2-3 years if I am still with racing a new/used GMC 3500HD.

Re: What is your car buying future? - RawrImAMonster - 07-14-2016

I definitely wouldn't have predicted my current BMW trend back in 2011 when this thread had just started and I had just bought my Evo IX.

I don't even know where I would go from this point as far as car buying goes. I'm pretty happy with both cars I have at the moment and there just aren't very many other cars in the typical <$25k range I buy in that I want. Maybe if I ever get a good garage to work on cars in, I'll get some sort of E30 project car, but I don't know.

Possible future cars 5+ years down the road when they're cheaper:
M2
GT350
C6 Z06
Focus RS
ATS-V

Can't really think of anything else newer than I even realistically want. The lowest model porsche I would want is the Cayman GT4 and I don't see that getting near my price range any time soon. I just don't really like a whole lot of newer cars.
