those wheels are pretty dirty....but the brakes look good

- Mike - 08-28-2006

what was wrong with the old rotors?

- Evan - 08-29-2006

i think i see a decent sized lip on the old ones, probably not a bad time to swap them out.

the slotted rotors IMO were a waste of money, Rob Im willing to bet you paid an extra $200 for those oh so useless slots, but to each his own.

- BLINGMW - 08-29-2006

Well they're not useless, as long as AP is making and selling them to top pro teams who do the testing and still demand them, then they must still be useful. From what I understand, they help prevent pads from glazing, usually at the cost of pad life. And heck, they provide a nice wear indicator for what little that's worth. Of course, the added cost may or may not be justifiable for a street car, but they aren't useless.

Besides, they look cool. Go Rob. Tongue

For his purposes they're fine. At least he went slotted instead of drilled or slotted/drilled.

Looks good man.

agreed - lookin' good Rob!

picture of something a little further away?

- Feersty - 08-29-2006

I know drilled are worthless. FWIW the pads and rotors all around were 409$.

- Mike - 08-29-2006

jesus christ.

I think that price included the labor he paid some shop to install the brakes...at least I hope so.

- Andy - 08-29-2006

Feersty, for reference. I pad 320 for Carbotech XP-8's allaround and 20 bucks a rotor from NAPA. So for a street setup, that is really really expensive. Shop around next time. Looks good though.

god - i paid $140 for xp-8's and rotors for the front with stock pads in the rear for $15. Brakes are soo easy to do yourself, i'm never going to have a shop do them. Hell i do them for friends if they buy me a lunch or dinner.

147.00 for the fronts, 167.00 for the rears. My rear pads actually do something but you wouldn't know nothin' about that. Actually, my rear pads are bigger than the fronts.

Agreed though on the labor. Swapping pads is a cakewalk and definitely something any car guy should learn.

- WRXtranceformed - 08-29-2006

It's different for different cars guys. I've said this before, but I have the exact same setup on my STi because it is actually CHEAPER than OEM stuff, and all 4 rotors, pads, SS lines and brake fluid came in at $650. Mine are freaking huge though:

Maybe for Foci upgraded brakes cost a little more than other cars. I remember when I was shopping around for the best price on my kit, the same exact kit for other cars (like Civics, etc.) was like half the cost, sometimes even less.

- karmapolice - 09-04-2006

I'm interested in how this will end up, I drive a SVTF as well.

I love the Euro look. Me and some friend were thinking of changing the focus to the ST euro model. I probably dont have the $$$ for that though.

- Feersty - 09-04-2006

Sup man, yeah I only got a few things more I would like to do. It doesn't take much to get this to where I like it.
