Insurance covers stupidity...true stupidity. They may investigate if they think something doesn't sound right.

Not saying what you did was stupid. But just in general. My dad works for Geico. Think about the people you interact with daily and wonder how they haven't darwin'd themselves yet. Well they all have cars and insurance. Go clean the snow off your car with a metal garden rake... It'll probably be covered.

Insurance companies, car and otherwise, are sketchy about flood damage. It's not that much of a stretch to consider they may have tried to get out of it.
