Does anyone have any electric Greenworks products? I was getting a white elephant gift on Amazon last night and saw a deal for $159 for a 40v trimmer, blower, battery, and charger. I've been eyeing a cordless trimmer for a while so based on the reviews I decided to pull the trigger. At that price it was worth it to give it a shot. If it sucks I'll send it back - thanks Prime!

I've never used Greenworks stuff but I have a few of the electric 20V Black and Decker yard product (weed eater, blower and hedge trimmer). I get crap from my neighbor buddy who is a John Deere mechanic and has these ridiculous Stihl gas powered weedeaters and blowers with a backpack like he's a ghostbuster. But honestly they cut the grass / trim the hedges just as good as his does, and I don't have to mess with gas, maintenance, etc.
If you had a bigger property that you were maintaining yourself (1+ acres) I could see the allure of gas powered because you'd be swapping through 3-4 batteries before you finished, but honestly I went to college so I don't have to do my own landscaping (and I pay someone to do it most of the year now anyway).
So yeah, I don't think you even need to spend that much. My B&D stuff was like maybe $35-40 a tool and each one included a battery and charger.

Maybe a 20v setup is cheaper, but no way you got a 40v battery and tool for under $50 unless it was some insane special. Even the B/D 20v trimmer w/ battery is $65 on amazon right now, regularly $118.

Yeah I didn't catch that we were comparing battery dick size, my bad. I still stand by 20V being pretty much fine for subdivision homeowner use.

I have a 40V greenworks chainsaw and a little older version of that trimmer. Love the chainsaw, I wish I'd gone for their 14" dual-string trimmer with the motor in the handle, but that's because I use it for 45 min at a time to knock down brush and all kinds of stuff it wasn't designed for and the balance kind of sucks. But for light-medium duty it's a good deal and on a 4aH battery will run longer than you'll want to. (Looks like you might be getting the 2aH batter though, not clear)

Yeah I got the 2aH battery since for the next few years we will be staying in our townhouse and I have approximately 25 ft to trim. Got the blower mainly to use to dry the cars when I clean them and for the few leaves under my deck. Should be plenty of runtime for my needs.

It's almost embarrassing to be blowing grass clippings off the driveway and sidewalk around my .2 acre with a commercial Stihl backpack blower. It was great for doing the semi wooded acre, but just dumb to have now.

i kind of agree, but my BR600 is nice to have in the fall when i blow the leaves (wet or not) to the curb for the county to pick up (it's primary purpose every year). I blow my clippings with it, but luckily i only look ridiculous for a few minutes since it's so quick with the blower. I used to use it to help clear a cyclocross course when i was on a cycling team, but now i just let friends borrow it too when they need to.

When my friend got the EGO chainsaw, we did a cutting competition, his almost brand new and mine a year old, mine won. It all has to do with keeping the chain sharp, the voltage doesn't mean much.

Disagree. I had a lower voltage chainsaw and it isn't even remotely comparable, despite having the chain sharpened by a professional last year. Go back one page for details.
It's possible there is no material difference between 40v and 56v, but volts definitely matter in my anecdata.

I'm just ranting here.
We moved into our new house about a month ago. Mostly went pretty smooth but since then the dishwasher and oven have gone tits up, hot water doesnt work great in the master shower (although fine everywhere else), we dont get much heat into the guest room, the drain for the utility sink that the washer dumps into was leaking (easy fix but, wtf?) and the toilet in the basement is leaking.
None of this shit is expensive but its all a pain in the ass to have to deal with right away and I cant bend, twist or lift anything so a lot of it just has to wait. We're blowing out the whole kitchen and renovating the floor but we havent nailed down all the details with the contractor yet, thinking we'd just live with the crappy but functioning kitchen for a little bit.
tl;dr sometimes older houses are shitty

that's what we did. our kitchen was a very blue (90s paint/wooden countertop on an original 1975 cabinets) kitchen, but it worked. i'd just fix the little crap first. there's nothing more irritating than dealing with small problems. i can't imagine dealing with full kitchen reno AND the small problems...
in the first 3 months of our home the dishwasher went and was fixed ($60 copay on the included home warranty) and the water lateral broke/leaked ($2k repair). luckily we avoided more issues.
