Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - G.Irish - 03-27-2011 Wow that description is 10x better than what I could've come up with  But yeah, I was exiting turn 5 and was about 2/3 of the way to the rumble strip when the back stepped out. I countersteered but the slide took me off track and once I hit the grass it was game over. Hit the guardrail backwards, then the car pivoted around and hit the front. I think I got sucked into thinking track conditions were better than they were since the track was drying out Sucks that the first time I did a car track event in years I crashed, and took out my friend's car. Wet grass is a motherfucker.Team RB&V might end up with a new chassis out of this one. Doesn't look like there's frame damage but the cost of repairing might exceed the cost of just buying another 318ti. Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - TorinoCobra070 - 03-28-2011 Oh man, the entire trunk got torn off of that BMW!! oh no, wait.... Glad everyone made it out ok  Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - Steve85 - 03-28-2011 Had a great time, except for about 200 yards past the main gate where I had to get out and remove stomach contents before driving home with nausea and a splitting headache. I absolutely love this track. You simply cannot get an idea of how great it is looking at a track map or even in videos. I thought I might regret bringing the Acura...no way. I feel realllly good about how I drove based on what the instructor was saying and what I saw in my group. He reallly pushed me and it's such a great feeling when there is a lot of trust going both ways. A couple times 100% trust required 105% of the car. Is that a good or bad thing, :dunno: I certainly don't think it was reckless behavior, you almost certainly have to creep over the limit now and again if your going to try and find it. I will say this car is much harder (or maybe just different and I need to learn how so) to save than I ever experienced with the vette. He wants to sign me off to go to Group 2 though  . I feel pretty good about that after 3 events over the last 4 maybe 5 years. Thanks for the pics Scott! Great to finally meet you. One of the best parts was that the track was too far from home to have to drive back on Sat night and I finally got to just hang out with everyone and have some fun. It sucks to see what happen to the Ti, a lot of cars went off that morning, but of course glad nobody got hurt. Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - ScottyB - 03-28-2011 ouch, sucks Steve, that sounds like maybe a migraine headache? i get those and it's an overpowering headache/throwing up/generally want to die feeling for a few hours. awesome to hear you are looking at group 2 soon, you deserve it. watching the teg getting around the track, you were definitely pushing it everywhere. BLINGMW Wrote:contact with the guardrail on the outside of T5 and was able to limp back to the paddock despite front and rear suspension, steering, half-shaft, and cooling system damage. #37 was completely destroyed in the incident. awesome recount of the true events that transpired. sorry to hear about the the old E35-3/4 though, are you done with that chassis now or will there be another? Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-28-2011 Winning!!! Just a little bit of lean...

Re: NASA-MA VIR full course Mar 25-27 2011 - Jake - 03-31-2011 Some highlights from David's perspective during the Hyperdrive. Watch the Corvette driver, he was terrifying to be behind and made a massive pass right as I gave him the point-by at Oak Tree (as in, my point-by apparently let him pass 8 cars).
