So the fucking thing was gone on the 8th. It left without tags... Not my problem! But it is...

On the 21st the new owner gets in touch with me saying he got his temp tags all squared away and the car has been doing well except for some "crank or countershaft washer that was rusted. My boy replaced it and it's mint."

On the 22nd the car received a parking ticket in DC WITH THE MARYLAND TAGS ON IT.

Apparently I left the tags that the previous owner let me bum in the trunk and the fucktard drove around with them for a couple weeks. Even after he said he had temp tags!

Jesus christ.

So now the tags are reported stolen. I hope DC's finest fry this kid.

- Kaan - 04-27-2009

DC came to you to pay the ticket?

- Mike - 04-27-2009

no, mailed the previous owner (guy i bought it from) the ticket.

- Kaan - 04-27-2009

oh damn that sucks! did you mail in the "its sold" registration part? did he?

- Mike - 04-27-2009

yeah. he did, long time ago. dc doesn't know about that i guess. i never registered it.

You are aware that it's illegal to resell a car without registering it in your name first, right?

- Mike - 04-27-2009

i knew there was a grace period and i knew i was well past it. as i never even titled it in my name, it's as if the car didn't exist for almost a year. kind of neat Tongue i know i broke a rule somewhere, but who is gonna come get me? virginia isn't... they don't even know of the car... and i highly doubt another state is gonna track me down Tongue

- ViPER1313 - 04-27-2009

In MD, the previous owner to you would be the one to come after you. My friend and I had to track down some jerkoff who never turned his plates in when he sold the car. In your case the previous owner can come after you if new jerkoff owner that you sold it to parades around on his/her plates.

- Evan - 04-27-2009

sounds like you are the dick for not returning the guys tags.

because the gun manufacturer is responsible when someone shoots someone else?

- Evan - 04-27-2009

:?:

- Ken - 04-28-2009

i think sense that make not?

i didn't put tags that weren't mine on my car. i didn't park it illegally.

- CaptainHenreh - 04-28-2009

Just for the record, Virginia "came and got me" when I didn't fully fill out my title, much less actually sell the car without titling it.

Circumstances were obviously different, but I'm just saying...you didn't just "break a rule somewhere", it's a class 3 misdemeanor.

Let me paint you a picture.

Previous owner lets you borrow his tags to help you out. You dont send his tags back, or even take them out of the trunk. Then previous owner gets a ticket in the mail because he helped you out and you were too lazy to mail back his plates.

I'm pretty sure RJ is guilty of one like every other year then. I seem to remember him telling me he never re-titles and/or registers when he's flipping shit.

Yeah. Pretty sure alot of people are guilty of it. Doesn't mean it's NOT against the law. Smile

Right, and I've apologized to him for being a dufus (sp?). Moot point if douchey McHoward University didn't put them on his car illegally.

Is anybody else laughing at the simple matter that this thread came back from the dead? I knew this wasn't over yet :-)
