Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 03-02-2012

presumably you don't leave your pistol case on the kitchen table, eh?

i am down with a safe for long arms because they're difficult to conceal. a handgun? hide it next to your bed. if somebody wants to take your shit, they're going to take the safe unless it's bolted down or weighs 53454354lbs.

Apoc Wrote:15 seconds away.

thats about how long it will take you to get into the safe when you are awake.

I would probably bolt it.

Okay. So no recommendations then?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 03-02-2012

loaded and with a bed holster. Smile

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Evan - 03-02-2012

Yeah now that I have a big dog, Im less concerned about having my handgun available in 0.2 seconds. She will either keep the baddie occupied long enough for me to open a safe, or scare him away outright.
So Im shopping for a handgun safve too

Gunshow tomorrow here in Richmond. Anyone planning to attend?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 03-02-2012

no... i think i have to work. Sad

Evan i get your thing with having a dog. and in your location i'd probably be fine with that. but if you are more isolated, a dog would be a speed bump.

they make hoslters and you can mod some... that mount to the box spring. they will be harder for people to "find" but easy for you to reach.

A bit of research suggests Stack-On may be the brand of choice.
A bit more research suggest these may be the versions of choice:

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 03-03-2012

Stack-on isn't bad, but a good friend of mine runs gunvault in his car, so if you don't mind using a key, it's pretty cheap and can be easily secured. I mean, if you're just trying to keep out $RandomPerson then you don't need like, a *safe*. Just a lockbox that can't be easily carried off, right?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 03-03-2012

The reviews I read about Gunvault weren't *that* great.

I have three basic requirements:

-Be able to prevent carry off
-The ability to open it in a reasonable amount of time, say under 5 seconds (wide awake)
-No key (they're just asking for trouble)

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - BLINGMW - 03-06-2012

Today, Tuesday, March 6, is the Republican Presidential Primary.

The VCDL 2012 Federal Candidate Survey was mailed to the two candidates on the Primary ballot -- Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

The Survey is posted on the VCDL website:

Survey: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.vcdl.org/surveys/federal_survey_2012.html">http://www.vcdl.org/surveys/federal_survey_2012.html</a><!-- m -->

Ron Paul answered the VCDL Candidate survey 100% in support of gun owners. Unfortunately, Mitt Romney has so far refused to answer VCDL's survey.

If a candidate is afraid to take a public stand on these issues now, BEFORE the election, then they are unlikely to be very responsive to your views AFTER the election.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - G.Irish - 03-06-2012

I don't think Mitt Romney is secretly anti-gun. I think he's anti-taking-a-position-on-something-important. Which means if elected he probably wouldn't change the law in either direction.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - G.Irish - 03-06-2012

Speaking of gun laws, part of Maryland's gun law was struck down in court:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/apnewsbreak-federal-judge-finds-md-handgun-permit-law-infringes-2nd-amendment-rights/2012/03/05/gIQAY5UosR_story.html?hpid=z2">http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/apnewsbreak-federal-judge-finds-md-handgun-permit-law-infringes-2nd-amendment-rights/2012/03/05/gIQAY5UosR_story.html?hpid=z2</a><!-- m -->

Basically the part that requires citizens to show a good reason for carrying a firearm was ruled unconstitutional. So perhaps this means you can keep your gun and ammo in the same part of the car when driving through Maryland.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 03-06-2012

I'd have otherwise kept a photo of a zombie on my dash to show an officer.

THIS IS WHY, MOTHERFUCKER.

I didn't read this article, but based on another I read, you had to justify a need just to get a permit to own a handgun. It all came about because a guy who bought a gun in 2001 after a home intrusion was refused a renewal a dozen years later because he couldn't prove a need to have one outside the home.

Damn, there goes that theory.

On the other hand, that's from back when he was pretending to be a liberal. Now he's pretending to be a conservative.
