Yeah I was actually looking at the Grand Sports too....even though they aren't as powerful as the Z06...those motors are ridiculous and we all know I won't leave a car like that stock so...

Hand-built LS3, pretty awesome. And the dry sump solves most the oiling issues the LS3 has.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2012

Andd the jeweler called me back and said the diamond appraised even better than expected. He offered to buy it back 100% cash money. The plot thickens towards a new warwagon!

Talk to me about the targa top...is that just a removable hard top that you have someone else help you with?

Seriously the cts-v wagon is tits

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2012

Would love a new gen CTS-V, but the gas mileage is too horrific for a daily driver and the cost is still a little out of my price range.

It's like Goodspeed's Supra. It's removable, but the removable part is JUST what's above your head. A big rectangle. Usually it'll fit in the back hatch.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2012

Ohhh right, nice...yeah that would be an awesome compromise! I loveeeee the Z06 but being able to drop the top (in some sense) here in the Carolinas is a HUGE plus.

That's what I'm talking about. I'd totally rock the CTS-V wagon in a heartbeat.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Steve85 - 04-04-2012

Sorry to hear about the heartbreak man...

I love the targa and was going to suggest the GS also. Lots of little performance upgrades and the killer bodywork. As far as the power, you don't need anyone to tell you that you're cam swap away from surpassing the 505 in the Z06. GS' also come in convertible.

I DD'eddde'ded a vette twice, when I was 21 and again at 31. Loved it...even in something light years away from what you're looking at.

If you don't find yourself using a lot of trunk space or carrying more than one passenger often, there is little downside.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-04-2012

As long as I can fit a carry-on suitcase + laptop bag or a bag of golf clubs I am in good shape. ^^^ that is exactly what I needed to hear!

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - ScottyB - 04-04-2012

one of the cool things about the C5 targas (i guess the C6's have this also?) is that you can get the targa as a dark tinted glass panel which is totally pimp. giant sunroof when you've got the top on, open air when its off. the targa top fits in the hatch of the car and I think you can take it on/off by yourself but you'll probably be more comfortable with 2 people.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Steve85 - 04-04-2012

The panels are relatively easy by yourself. The glass ones are lighter but unless they made them a lot more tinted on C5/6 it gets a little greenhouse like in there. They are MUCH easier to take off on C5/6 also since they used latches instead of the four screws in a C4. And, they were designed with the targa in mind, so they don't turn into a wet noodle when you take the roof off.

They are a little bulky, but easily manageable for one person.

And watch out on the body color ones, I forget which model (pretty sure C5) but they had glue issues and the colored panel would fly off at speed.

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - REED - 04-06-2012

why is the cts-v mileage that much worse than the vette?

weight + aero

Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-07-2012

Looked at 2 Z06s and a few Grand Sports today. Price wise I think I could get both where I wanted them to be, but the best offer I could get for my CTS was 22.5k. No chance I'm rolling $6k+ of negative equity into a Corvette. With incentives and 0% at 72mos on 2011 Vettes...a new one for once would actually make sense...but it is so dumb to take that kind of hit. I may end up just tossing a few g's into rims and mild mods for this car so I don't get bored with it until I pay more of it off or a dealer gets so desperate they are willing to pay off this car.

So I may end up cashburning ring money on a Mossberg 500, new clubs and a fresh watch in St. Thomas instead Tongue

If you're gonna go shotgun, get a SX3. Best scatterstick for the money, period.
