Re: August 20-21, Nasa-MA, Summit Point - Maengelito - 08-19-2011

We're heading out now with a stop at Dave's Taverna for dinner. I plan on heading to the track tonight to swap brakes/tires. See you fools soon!

We salute you, Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man. Lesser men would postpone their track endeavors. Women deride your impossible folly. Most people would give up. But not you, Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man. Undeterred, you toil ceaselessly to get more boost, higher cornering speed, or to simply get your busted pile running at marginal functionality to make it through the weekend. You possibly could have had your car ready weeks ago, but that's about as much fun as a race that's won on the first lap. You understand what drama is, you value true glory, and you Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man, understand what a true hero is. While few attempt to emulate your brilliance, you are an inspiration to us all.

Not what Jake? 8)

Re: August 20-21, Nasa-MA, Summit Point - Sully - 08-22-2011

Wow, where to begin...

As always, its was an absolute blast seeing everyone. I somehow managed to get my traditional track weekend sunburn even with sunscreen applied but I guess that will be part of the experience.

This weekend was super fun though from Dj test driving every single car there as a pace car to the Saturday night cookout. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did and hope to bring some more current members along with me when school starts again.

This was probably one of the best weekends, I dare say possibly better then hyperfest with our MM cookout and VBD graphics partying next to us. I'm thinking we need a madison motorsports pop up or I should have grabbed the banner from cody to throw on one the easy ups we had but there is always next time.

I love seeing MM roll onto to grid while I'm working the entrance and watching my poor little M go out on track brought joy to my heart 8) . She did me proud when I saw her come back in without hearing an ev call for the pace car on the radio.
I just wanted to say thank you to all the alumni who provided food and spent time at the grill.

I hope to see everyone at either the college autocross, fiesta en fuego, and/or the october event at vir.

^^^Ditto, the after track has gone cold, grilling idea is by far the best. Everyone just hanging out, and grilling, instead of people just stopping by to grab a quick burger or dog inbetween sessions.

We were also discussing, that if this grilling continues, once Kaan and I start tracking we will have EZ-ups as well, so + DJs that 3. And the banner needs to be in the hands of someone who is always at the track, or even have 2, one for the current officers to carry, and one for whomever is always at the track. Maybe a long skinny banner, something to discuss with VBD.

Only problem I forsee is beginning of the year events, when it gets dark earlier, and its obviously colder, maybe a portable fire pit? or we can always set a trash can on fire and huddle around that Smile. Good weekend, no MM casualties, and I will see everyone at Fiesta En Fuego, if not sooner!

Great seeing some old faces, and also some new MM'ers that I haven't met. Track weekend was so-so for me - the coolant/rad cap issue in the first session was a bummer and the seat issue was the icing on the cake. Lesson learned, don't try to rush track prep late on a work night.

Car also seemed to pick up a misfire, hesitation on the drive home. I think I might have caused some damage to the headgasket as well with all the coolant that was pissed on the first session.

Hopefully its all button'd up by the October VIR event, if not I think I'll come down to hang out.

Re: August 20-21, Nasa-MA, Summit Point - Kaan - 08-22-2011

oh hell we should have just done a headgasket while we were looking at Kevin Helms his work magic!

Well we know you can take care of that in like an hour...

 You got two months, tons of time!

The time cornerbalancing and alignment along with ballast placement paid off. The car was MUCH better this event. It was hugely noticeable from the first corner.

On saturday, I claimed 1st and TTC record, I pulled off an additional second from my previous record of 1:23.2 to now a 1:22.2. On sunday, I just went out for the first session to secure 1st and another tire, mainly trying to keep the car together so I was just a tick slower. Although an issue im having now is with my new front strut bar, apparently my engine is moving so much that my TPS clip is hitting the top of my strut bar and popping out my tps harness so I keep losing that. Argh! May be time for solid motor mounts or at least nylon. New factory ones arent apparently stopping it from moving as muchh as I thought.

And David Lonnquest was out there catching some shots...

You can come polish them Tongue ... Actually part of my nationals prep is to clean up the car. The setup is right so aside from mounting a new splitter, it should just be cleaning the car and adding some more roll bar padding. And figure out why the car is now fuel starving at 3/4 of a tank Confusedhock:

Re: August 20-21, Nasa-MA, Summit Point - Jake - 08-22-2011

I had a blast on Saturday! Got a new instructor (to me) and he was somewhat helpful. Got me to be more confident (and thus faster) through three different turns. It was definitely a lot of fun grilling and drinking Saturday evening versus in-between sessions.

Had to miss out on Sunday thanks to a massive sinus infection. Thank you David for driving my sorry ass home since I was in no mental capacity to drive myself anywhere, let alone a track.

Guess I'll do a full weekend at VIR in October?
