I understood it perfectly. Some Evan is ballin, just imagine how ballin the whole Evan is.

What caused the cam wear? How many miles does your car have on it?

Re: Project Elise - Madden - 10-19-2009

no one is really sure, but some of the high lift camshaft lobes get worn. some think its because they may be getting improper distribution of oil from the overhead oil feeds in the camshaft cover. myn werent badly worn at all, but i found another set for cheap and swapped them out in my spare time

Re: Project Elise - D_Eclipse9916 - 10-20-2009

How many miles do you have? Surprised at the cam wear being so high? Have you considered using rotella synthetic or specific oils that contain high zinc to help prevent cam wear? These new "low-emission" oils (yes all the new mobil 1, castrol etc.) are actually WORSE for engine wear, they are just better for emissions.

Re: Project Elise - WRXtranceformed - 10-20-2009

Amsoil ftw!

Re: Project Elise - Madden - 10-20-2009

it only has 12k miles, i have been using havoline but ill do the rotella switch next change

Re: Project Elise - WRXtranceformed - 10-21-2009

12k miles + excessive cam wear seems like there could be something else going on.

Re: Project Elise - Madden - 10-21-2009

i replaced the cams and the cover and have had to signs of wear over the past couple thousand miles.
here is the original thread about it...

You might also try the German Castrol, a lot of guys on SVTP swear by it.

Re: Project Elise - Goodspeed - 10-21-2009

God I love this car. Nice work Ryan, the new top looks great. It really "gets" me b/c this is the exact Elise I'd want...color, mods and all, its getting kind of uncanny with the updates. Keep it up!

Re: Project Elise - Madden - 10-29-2009

the thing i have been waiting and saving for forever finally arrived today
none of that wet layed poser carbon crap, this diffuser is the real deal pre-preg autoclaved dry carbon.
bigger veins than stock and is a featherweight. I'm installing it this weekend along with my new arqray exhaust

Re: Project Elise - ScottyB - 11-03-2009

sweet! sound clips?

Re: Project Elise - Steve85 - 11-03-2009

Soooo right.

Do we know how these things work? I get keeping the airflow from getting caught behind the rear bumper / fascia as it comes out from under the car, but does the tunnel design create downforce?

Re: Project Elise - Evan - 11-05-2009

no, it helps prevent upforce
