you want suck? conte's. they won't give me the time of day when i walk in.

I cannot stand the arrogant attitude the staff has. I have listened to them talk trash on other customers while I stood there listening. I get treated differently almost every time I go in there. I prefer to be treated the same if I bring my BMX bike in or my road bike.
I hate the way the owner and staff act in front of the customers (before they go shit talking in the back room). No one in real life greets people by yelling "HEY!!!!!! ITS A GREAT DAY AT THE BIKE LANE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING IN!!! every time a customer enters the store like the owner does. I'm sure some people eat it up but just treat me like a real person and I'd be happier.
They took 3 weeks to build me a wheel. One wheel. They lost my credit card number in the store. I could go on.

Revolution or Bike Club for obscure stuff.

I assume you're talking about the short guy? I think he is a bit enthusiastic, its great. He really seems to enjoy what he's doing there, as opposed to the drones at nearly every other bike shop in the area.

Sucks you had a bad experience there though - they've been good for me.

I worked at Revolution. I'll NEVER go back. Ever. I've never met a more unholy group of assholes in my life.

I buy small things there, but sometimes their help is a bit arrogant - a guy argued with me for a while about my Trek bike computer (that I bought there) when it wasnt working right - I had already replaced the batteries, etc, and they had more interest in arguing about it than fixing it.

If you ever find yourself in Roanoke/Blacksburg, east coasters is another great shop - I bought my road bike there.

I admit that my problem is with the management & ownership, not with the customer interaction... but I won't patronize a store if I think the owners would make better DMV clerks than businessmen, or if they're just assholes. That said, I have little, if any, need to ever actually go to a shop, so my opinion's a little moot Smile

I got great help at Revolution the other day. I guess it depends on who helps you? They have a pretty good selection of bikes that is pretty near my house... I can't complain. For little stuff, I go to Performance... You can't beat their prices, but forget the staff.

- Evan - 01-27-2009

Ive always liked Performance. Sure, they are the WalMart of bike shops, but thats actually a good thing when all the other bike shops in the area are full of arrogant twats.

Ive always gotten very knowledgable advice and help from staff there, and Ive taken my bike there to get worked on and the work was done well and for cheap.

I just wish they carried Trek since Im a big fanboi

- Mike - 01-27-2009

Just an FYI, I used to work at Performance in Reston. Smile

I do miss me some pro-deals. Buy a bike for 50% off, play with it for a year, resell it if you don't like it for the same or more than you paid.

- .RJ - 01-28-2009

Lots of waiting around and some x-rays... "grade 1" separated shoulder. 3-6 weeks of rest, it will fix itself, and I can go back to PT for my other shoulder injury.

Going to have the bike checked out on Friday I think. Maybe I'll decorate my bike with those stupid blinky frog lights.

It should be evident that you are supposed to be on/in anything with wheels.
