Chill the fuck out man, for real. This thread should be locked by now.

You talking about Kaan? We had to go through a lot of bullshit to get the club started, and for the first semester they tried to shut us down. If the school catches wind of any thing illegal/unsafe that puts them in a vulnerable legal position - i.e. someone gets hurt and their parents sue the school - dont think that is a joke because it has happend many times in the past - then we have to do something about it or else they will come after the club and lose our status with the University, its not a joke.

Anyways...... </soapbox>

I'm not saying this is this case here but its just something to keep in mind for the future.

- WRXtranceformed - 12-08-2004

Yes I'm talking to Kaan. Yes I agree with you that liabilities and our status in the JMU community must be taken seriously. Yes I understand that you guys went through a lot of bullshit to get this club going; for that I think everyone here is appreciative and thankful.

That is not what this thread is about though. How many times does that need to be said before it's understood ? Why keep bringing up a moot point ?

this thread could show a possible pattern of behavior. trust me... its doesnt take much. the powers that be dont care if corrilation doesnt validate causation... as far as they are concerned it does for US.

i'm not pissed off, i'm not upset... but you ALL have to realize attendance to "events" of this nature do not reflect well on the club... and show a partern of behavior. WE ALL have to play by the book. and TRUST me i havent even jumped on a soap box or said anything worth telling me to chill out... i'm an asshole that the best interest of the club in mind.

TO THE STORY...
ok so a week into working here or so a "boss" comes into my office and sees the picture of the car up and the close up of my license plate (JMU RACN). he asks me if i was in MM... obivously i am and said so... aparently we as a club have been the subject of conversation at all levels... because his friend is or has been in charge of the parents association and over dinner the head of the parents association and my boss talked about "us." we arent the first college club and i'm sure others have had similar issues, but with the JMU community as large as it is... people you dont think know we exist, know we are there, and know what people are looking to nail us for. the parents association for JMU has nothing to do with club and org or risk management... but through the grape vine everyone knows and everyone watches.

Blair,

I do remember you and know you're a cool kid, as I've said in my numerous posts here, this was never a personal attack at you. This was all about the image the club itself portrays, and that it should in no way condone illegal unsanctioned events. The pictures were cool, the fact that you came out and said (after being asked) it was in a lot that you had permission to use is smart. Like I said in a previous post, the fact that you had permission negated the entire point of my original post.

As for your quote of me from a previous post, that actually fits into my entire point. In that thread people were talking about going around town being jackasses, but if I recall it was nothing illegal, just stuff that is looked down upon. Certain persons of authority within the club immediately chimmed in and discouraged any such actions. I personally feel that what people do in their own time is their own thing and shouldn't be subject to club opinion or criticism (afterall we haven't stepped in to curb RJ's homosexuality or infatuation with midgets). If someone wants to go out and turn themself into a greasy stain on some highway, fine that's their life, they can do with it what they will. If they want to go out to some parking lot and drift to their hearts content, so be it. My point is, when people come onto the MM forum, post pictures of a seemingly illegal act, that they attended or participated in, and then there are posts by members showing their joy/elation/support of that act that it effects the club. Like Kaan and RJ said, the OG's went through a shitload of effort to get this club off the ground, and it seems as if it's always within inches of the University taking it out from underneath them. This isn't meant as an afront to the fresh blood, but all members need to think about what they do/say where it can be linked to the club and the powers that allow your club to exist can see.

So I'll repeat what I've said a couple times already. This was never a personal attack against you, so I'm sorry if you took it that way. Based on your posts concerning the parking lot used, the entire point of my post was negated. I never stopped thinking you were a cool kid, and still think so.

Eat a D you hub-cap polishing, buick driving, illegal tint having, showing up for your assigned post late and expecting full credit bitch. Oh and if your comment was made in jest, so is this one. Big Grin

oh, i was expecting something juicier... i'm glad people know who we are!

- Kaan - 12-08-2004

Quote:oh, i was expecting something juicier... i'm glad people know who we are!

All i'm saying is people that dont attend our meetings, gatherings, track events we attend, autox's we run... people that know people that know people... and have talked about their concerns and how we arent looked at with a smile by the university... even if they havent been very vocal lately.

- BLAIR - 12-08-2004

well i guess if every damn thing i do on my own time with freinds maked the club look bad when in no way was it a MM event i didnt have a MM sticker on my car wasnt anywhere near JMU and like a said before no one there even knows what MM is at all i bet, then i dont think i should associate with this club cause im not going to change what i do cause i dont do anything wrong.

i thought it was cool to meet people into similar things like me.

- Mike - 12-08-2004

oh stop it. we like you, nobody was getting on you, but this thread certainly veered off course pretty badly. i think the only thing that is trying to be said (or all i'd say on this subject as i haven't really participated in this thread) is this:

you are free to do whatever the hell you want. if you are doing something illegal please do not associate the club with it at all (don't wear an mm shirt, don't have an mm sticker on whatever car you use). i don't feel this event was too big a deal as it was in the middle of nowhere and you had permission to be where you were, you didn't even participate, and you didn't associate our club with it in any way except for posting pictures on our site; totally different from say posting a video of you street racing in traffic against another member, ya know? additionally, if someone ever came to our site to see if we were up to illegal activities they'd see this thread... it pretty clearly shows that we don't stand up for bullshit

this has been blown out of proportion long enough, blair please don't go... i like seeing your smiling face on grid Tongue

Seriously, it's hard to find good reliable workers, that are cool people as well. I'd have my work cut out for me if it weren't for people like you, John, and Jess.

- navin - 12-08-2004

hey fucker, i'll be back working once I get my new job sorted out..

weekends off = track time!! Big Grin

- JackoliciousLegs - 12-08-2004

Ok. I gave this thread time to get nice but the fact that I've heard complaints from multiple members has made it a problem. We can NOT... CAN NOT have personal attacks in this forum. This thread is getting locked now and I hope that this kind of crap doesn't happen anymore. Everyone, please understand, this is a forum of friends, not random internet "buddies" like your honda-techs (with some exceptions). Keep everything kosher.

IMO, Blair did nothing wrong by posting the pictures. He posted cool pictures. We've posted pictures of parties.. some hosted by people in MM. Officers being drunk... etc. This forum is a forum of friends. We can't judge what goes on here.

There is a vote on how people feel open on the officers forum. I'll let everyone know the decision.
