Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 01-23-2017

So our brandy new jackmaster garage door opener broke yesterday. Called the company and they said they could have someone out last night. No show, no call. Bullshit. On the bright side, I tested my ability to get into my garage with no power.

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - JustinG - 01-23-2017

what broke?

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 01-23-2017

The motor starts to engage, makes an odd whirring noise, then stops. The drive never budges.

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 01-23-2017

So the guy power cycled it and it's fixed. I did that shit twice last night and nothing...

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Sully - 01-23-2017

Price on those LED floods went down to $11 something. Picked up two to try out in back. Worst case I'll put them out front of they're not bright enough since we never use the front light anyways. Hoping the best for them though. The area we try to illuminate is really too large for a single fixture on the house but maybe these will be brighter than the halogens.

Thanks for the heads up

No prob! I took some pics tonight of the front and side so you can see them (the coach and recessed cans under the porch are all LED as well)

Got this one mostly turned toward the side of the house so as to not blind my neighbors through their windows

Lights up all the way to the street

That's insanely bright. Are those on motion sensors or on all night?

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - WRXtranceformed - 01-23-2017

All night son. Neighbors are cool with it, we don't have enough street lights in our cul de sac so pretty much everyone is lighting up the world now down hurr

Yeah fuck outta here with that. I'm all for having some lights on but that brightness all night is excessive.

Good thing you're not my neighbor Tongue

But I did for real ask all of my neighbors and they are appreciative of the extra lighting on the cul de sac after the car "breakins" (ie people leaving their doors unlocked with keys in the car :? ) Pretty much everyone on our street keeps their lights and floodlights on at night now. Our bedroom has windows in the front and side of the house and with the blinds close I don't notice it at all

What do you mean, you people

Man, the people in my neighborhood get seriously bent when our street lights go out. I guess if thats the worst thing that happens things are pretty good...

All you suburbanites are cute... arguing about lighting and whatnot.

What's next? The line of SUVs is too long at your kid's school drop off?

No joke, we just had someone on the closed group neighborhood Facebook page complaining about where he could park his commercial truck and trailer, and asking about whether our community could build a lot that is fenced in for RVs and commercial vehicles.

Uh no dude, you moved into a planned community with a HOA....nobody is going to build a storage facility here for your big rig

you should see the letters i get when the bushes on the street-side of my house get unruly.

we asked for it though, that's what i get for moving into a subdivision with lots of old people. looking forward to running my car open-header the day we move out.

Re: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 01-24-2017

My next door neighbors are an 84 y/o woman and a 92 y/o woman; I haven't had problems.

Actually, I lied. The 70-something woman across the screen asked if she could pay to replace our newly planted cherry trees because one might block her view of the Olympic Mountains in 10 years.
