YES I found the "JMU beat VT" E30 photo!

The silver car going the other way is The Davids in David L's STI.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015

That was the most epic fucking day. I'm so glad we were in school at the time to experience it. JMU students mobilized as quickly as the Air Force. I've never seen so many people on campus at the same time. You guys working for the paper got texts to go get photos, I think I drove the E30 from Pheasant to campus as fast as a $750 325e can possibly go, and then we just abandoned it behind the Kinkos near the quad. The flash mob was still on the quad and when we got there some security guards were coming up, we assumed to tell everyone to disperse. Instead they go "GET EVERYONE TO THE STADIUM THE DEAN IS COMING TO CAMPUS"

So the entire goddamn school jogs from the quad to the stadium, one of us goes back to rescue the car before it gets towed. It felt like the entire school was on the football field when the Dean got there and gave and impromptu victory speech.

Then we did parade laps through campus and people were just going nuts everywhere you looked, and a crowd had formed waiting to welcome the players when they got home. At one point I was sitting on the edge of the door, hanging onto the sunroof, high fiving everyone as we drove down the street, blasting the JMU fight song from the shitty blown out speakers in that car.

I suspect that my tiny mind cannot even conceive just how laid those football players got that night.

That was just as good as when drunk Mike kept fucking with you and you wrestled him into the bath tub. Amazing.

Pics from the M3 meets Civic cruise.

And meet they did, too bad we didn't record our attempts to straighten the civic frame rail.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jake - 07-30-2015

Going through Picasa after work has been the best end to a marginal couple of days... yay, memories!

Maeng and I about to go on track in DJ's racecar, before it was much of a racecar. This was because I... ran out of brake pads in my borrowed Miata? I think? I was doing HPDE 1.

There was that time we did a Ferrari of Washington tour and my parents, who live up the street, had us all over for homemade ribs. It was ribs, or get teargassed. We made the right call.

I once had some shitty blue K1's. Thanks, Navin! Now they're on Kaan's Integra. And that Integra used to belong to my college roommate Ben.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015

This thread inspired me to drag the old girl out of her tomb tonight for a much needed bath and short little cruise around the block. All the memories in this thread are why I can't sell it.

Hard to believe we managed to do 8 of those parties with no-one getting killed or incarcerated. Other "BID" highlights include Maeng wheelie-ing my EX500 to the sky, Gerald showing up a full day early, and this (from BID '06):

Unfortunately, "Anything for Money" happened a year too late for me to make the really bad decisions that I'd look back on fondly now. That said, I wish I still had some of the pictures...

(edit - found the pic of Maeng on my bike)

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Goodspeed - 07-30-2015

Oh god yes. I had a huge kick reading through all this at work today, itching to get home and pull all my old MM stuff off my old HD and onto my comp so I can finally post some stuff here. Like Jake, browsing through everything was so, so good.

I hope you're ready for a LOT of pics and vids.

Firstly, my early MM memories are pretty well summed up in this old video from 2006:

And the vids found in my signature link.

For anyone who doesn't know, I spent the first two years in MM without a car (and part of that without a license). That just meant I was free to document a ton of stuff which I'm really thankful for now

Like some cruises:

Smile actually my above post won't do, b/c I forgot a few things:

Like the time we got together at Hunter's house for BBQ and Duck Hunt, and then saw the local Enzo cruising S. Main afterwards (Feb. '06)

yes... the freshly detailed Type R with $$$ of dent removal done. pizza and the pizza box from the second story. I think it all buffed out.

Mikey also tried to take the one road sign in the town Kershaw out of the ground by shaking it.

The ladies pulled up in the ford Taurus and even blind drunk they were ugly.

This was my first MM track event. I remember Cobetto telling Mike to "take care" of the 1/2 empty keg after the party saturday night, so we put it in the back of his hatch and took it to the hotel. I remember driving and Mike telling me to just leave the high beams on because "those lights are so shitty no one will know the difference." And he was right. I also remember the pizza throwing on the Type R and Kaan forcing me to do my first keg stand on the balcony of that hotel. And immediately after letting me down Kaan slapped me across the face with a piece of cold pizza.

What the hell, is that an Enzo? One of my friends told us he saw one in Broadway and we gave him so much shit for that. I guess he did after all. Why the hell was one of like 50 Enzos in the US around here?

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jake - 07-31-2015

Damn Goodspeed, great stuff.

I remember fooling around with that Town Car - it was a demo that Ryan had when he worked at Bob Wade. I think in the one photo we were seeing how much longer it was compared to my Miata.

Good, good times. Some videos from my Vimeo account:

Joey once made a promo video for MM: https://vimeo.com/7767297

Chris and I had a Miata-autocross rivalry (sharing my car) for several semesters: https://vimeo.com/11409419

One of the first motorsport-related things I did in a BMW, driving Peter's S50-swapped 325is: https://vimeo.com/12178094

That time we worked on my shitbox E30 and left the exhaust off - you can really see how good the paint is here: https://vimeo.com/15921694

My second (?) ever HPDE weekend, in a borrowed Miata. Maeng was my instructor which means the only thing I heard all weekend was GASGASGASDAMMITMOREGAS. Chasing down that damn M5 is still something I'm proud of: https://vimeo.com/16719096

Joey's first drive of his $500 Miata after the clutch job... "Alright this one works, I'm selling it": https://vimeo.com/25556493

My first weekend in HPDE 3 at VIR - I learned exactly why you don't lift at the top of the Uphill Esses. I'm in front of the red E30: https://vimeo.com/39222580

Dudebro has a Carrera GT too, or did.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Ryan T - 07-31-2015

Other good memories:

Anything for Money party where Sean climbed the tree then started calling everyone to tell them he was stuck in the tree. He later fell out of said tree but was so drunk he didn't get hurt.

RJ laying his bike down doing wheelies in the parking lot of Pheasant Run at 1 in the morning. I still have a piece of carbon fiber from that crash. I think Julie ended up injured too while running to make sure RJ was ok. Same night, I can't remember who it was, but someone in MM passed out on top of our air hockey table.

Riding with Lee when he destroyed that civic on main street in the sti, blowing oil everywhere.

I don't remember where we were coming back from but JRay's headlights quit working and he had to drive like 30 miles on I-81 holding down the high beam flash on his Si.

Throwing beer cans with that spring loaded trap thrower on Devon Lane. Devon Lane, man, so many good times. Moonshine, so much moonshine. I remember at one point we had like 22 tires in that apartment between me, DJ and Goodspeed. Goodspeed would always peace out of the parties way early so one evening Blair grabbed a tire laying in there and chucked it down the hall as hard as he could and busted Goodspeed's door wide open. Jeff being hammered reading the descriptions of various gun accessories out of Cheaper Than Dirts catalogue before passing out on the pizza box.

Riding with Rex to go pick up some of the cars he got all those tickets in...and getting another ticket on the way for expired trailer registration or something.

Ice fishing in the mall parking lot and running into Pete with his F-150. I was riding with Pete at one point and we hit what we thought was just a large pile of snow but was actually snow covering up a concrete curb. Pete didn't seem to care...

Riding over the mountain to the gun range in Jeff's van and Jeff strategically placing the heaviest people in the front (me and him) and working backwards to the lightest person in the back (Goodspeed).

I had forgotten about pimping around that big Lincoln Town Car as my demo for a while, but that car was so much fun!

Drinking behind Paul and Blairs, holdbacks behind Paul and Blairs, Blair convicing HPD that we weren't setting off fireworks despite all the charred and still smoking pieces of pavement in the parking lot. Trashby parties where Blair proceeded to shoot dirty socks out of a potato gun at people indoors. Locking the front door and busting as many liquor bottles as possible against the door. Off-roading off of 33W and then riding back through campus in our muddy jeeps blasting Ridin' Dirty as loud as those old shitty speakers would go.
