Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-02-2012 Long story short, Mustang sale was for nought. Proposal is off indefinitely. I have 10Gs to spend (assuming I can sell back the ring) and a massive hole in my heart. I am thinking dump the caddy and finally pick up my C6 / C6 Z06 to fulfill my early life crisis. Thoughts on either as a daily driver?? They honestly would probably get better gas mileage than this thing (18/22 from what I am seeing...26 at absolute best all highway driving). Obviously there would be a hit in the comfort factor, but I feel like I would get over it real quick with 400+hp Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - HAULN-SS - 04-02-2012 Why not have the best of both worlds and get a CTS-V? Edit: Or are you saying you want to find something 10G is a big part of the money needed? Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Jake - 04-02-2012 Sorry to hear that, Lee I've always wondered how it'd be to DD a Corvette. Everyone says if you're gentle on the highway, they can reach 30 mpg (give or take) which would be okay. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-02-2012 As much as I would love a CTS-V, I can't justify 8-10mpg on a daily driver. The 10Gs would (theoretically) be going into the purchase price. Edit: I have also considered a few other options, S4, S5, M3, some kind of AMG coupe, etc. So any suggestions would be awesome. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - ScottyB - 04-02-2012 ugh, sorry man not cool.get the vette. do it now or its probably just not going to happen by the time other life needs get a hold of your wallet. you're single and at this point you've had your eyes on one for a long time...you owe it to yourself. as a bonus, yeah it'll probably get better mileage and should hold its resale decently being a Z. That said, I wouldnt buy any modern bmw or mercedes unless you are prepared for massive maintenance bills because of some electronics. Ive heard the z06 is pretty rough unless you get the magnateroalizalcklanhkldgaknga (sp?) shocks. And then apparently it rides REALLLY well, so may want to find one and spring extra for it. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Goodspeed - 04-02-2012 Ouch, sorry to hear man. Get the C6Z. I drove one a while back and it was pants crappingly awesome. Seriously. Whatever it costs, it's worth the extra. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-02-2012 Were those year specific or have they always been an option? Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - CaptainHenreh - 04-02-2012 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Were those year specific or have they always been an option? In 2003 you could get handling package "F55" that had the magic dampers. I want to say the option package has been consistent but you'd need a GM Nerd to tell you for sure. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Evan - 04-02-2012 man youve been talking about a vette even when you had the WRX! go for it now. And I have to say, C6 Z06 on the backstraight of VIR is an awe inspiring experience Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - ScottyB - 04-02-2012 Evan Wrote:C6 Z06 on the backstraight of VIR is an awe inspiring experience to add to that - had a ride at an autox in the 405hp version w/R-comps. i'll never, ever forget the acceleration. i've heard people use terms like "continually falling down a mountain" to describe speed, and that was the first time it made sense to me. the cornering was just hilarious. way beyond 1g, easily. do it! Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Beej - 04-02-2012 Bummer man, but keep your head up. Everything happens for a reason. Having daily'd a two-seater with half the power, the inconvenience is something 500+hp can more than make up for. My vicarious side says to do it while you still can. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - Evan - 04-02-2012 ScottyB Wrote:Evan Wrote:C6 Z06 on the backstraight of VIR is an awe inspiring experience what blew me away was the acceleration PAST 100mph. It STILL pushes you back in your seat Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 04-02-2012 Seen a couple of REALLY nice Z06s, local too. Probably more than I would want to spend ultimately seeing how my brother (my FA) has me putting away ludicrous sums of money every month so I am not poor at age 50. Butttttt like I said I am only 30 once and with everything that has gone down lately, what is $100 more per month plus whatever the insurance company wants to rape me at to put a smile on my face every time I hit the go pedal?? If you all see any killer deals out there, definitely kick them my way. Or like I said, any other options out there that might be a fun ride I haven't thought of. I am finding that you can get a VERY low mileage 2011 C6 (LS3, 430hp) for about the same price as a 25kish 2007-2008 Z06. I wouldn't be opposed to a base C6 with some frills in it...especially if it is a convertible. 505 hp out of the Z06 is a pretty good starting point though. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - ScottyB - 04-04-2012 Lee are you looking for a vert or would a targa work? i personally think the targa is an awesome compromise.
