If you guys are serious, we fielded 2 BABE cars from Harrisonburg in '09. Happy to give pointers- it was epic. Don't over-think the car, the whole point is to have a complete crapper. (and there are no support vehicles!) If, for instance, you end up using more transmission fluid than gas- that's considered a feature. If you spend more than a couple hundred bucks above the price of your car getting it prepped then you are doing it wrong.

I'd suggest you go look at what cars people have driven in past years for ideas. One pro-tip though considering this group, you will run the tail of the dragon (deal's gap). That will be much less fun in a bus than an old e30...

An old e30 you say...... now where in the world would MM find an old e30? Big Grin

I saw some crappy looking blue one at an autocross recently. Wonder if I can talk to the owner and talk him away from it

So even though I perused through this thread I didn't realize that I actually own a good car for this.

My 1998 Olds can be made available. It gets 25-28 mpg on the highway, depending on your cruising speed. Fully functioning car...as long as you don't expect the driver side window to roll down, or for the trunk to fully latch. I have a bungee cord that keeps it down (mostly). Engine is strong; interior is suspect. AC works as long as you set it to 3-5. For some reason 1 and 2 don't produce any kind of air. Brakes and rotors, tires, one spring, and the ignition cylinder have all been replaced in the past 3 years.

It was rear ended and deemed a total loss though I still drive it. Features include a driver side mirror that has been epoxied (poorly) back in place and a good size rust spot near the gas filler. Also the gas leveler does not function. I zero it out on every refill and know exactly how far a tank will take me depending on conditions. The worst mileage it will give you is slightly over 20 to the gallon x 12 a gallon tank means at least 240 to the tank.

It will be back in Nebraska by November, but like I said it can be made available.

I'm totally down for this. I have friends in New Orleans and Atlanta, and I'd definitely be willing to support the cause with some monies. If you got any free spots, sign me up

Great idea. I'll keep an eye out next time I go home, maybe drive around downtown Newport News and see if I can't find a "hot" whip someone needs to sell haha.. Also we might be able to find a slightly more expensive car and see if the seller will knock down the price since we're trying to make money for charity.
