- HAULN-SS - 05-28-2009 I think I found the one I am going to get. It's in harrisburg PA. Anyone with a truck want to ride up and help me get it? 50$ + gas money for your time - HAULN-SS - 05-28-2009 I've officially succomb to the dark side. Picked up a 99 GSXR 750. White/blue, all stock, never dropped, never wrecked. Has a yoshi pipe, some MIHS stunna blue LEDs tucked up under the fenders (yay!...), and the rims were swapped out for chrome versions, probably going back to white shortly. - HAULN-SS - 05-29-2009 some pictures: ![]()
- Sijray21 - 05-29-2009 congrats on the purchase :-D enjoy and ride safe - HAULN-SS - 06-01-2009 So i've been trying to clean the bike up some lately, and I have a little problem.... It seems like the white vinyl might be showing some age. It looks almost like there are permanent water spots on the bike, or like the owner drove behind a dump truck in the rain, and never wiped the bike down and let the water spots bake in...does anyone know what is good to clean vinyl like that? I was thinking about maybe just replacing the pieces, since it's just a couple of small ones, so on that note, if i can't get it clean, wheres a good place to buy new vinyl? Do most people just get it made? Seems like all the places i find online are not doing stock replica vinyl, but crazy designs, or logos, etc - .RJ - 06-01-2009 Its a 10 year old bike, dont worry about it. Worry more about the tires, suspension, brakes and chassis bits. Also, paint your wheels gold. - HAULN-SS - 06-01-2009 yeah true..for tires, does the same bit hold about lincolns head showing on a penny in the tread? I do plan on swapping out brake fluid one day. I want to do the maintenance myself..any interest in having a wrench day? I dunno about gold, but I might take them back to white. Gold and blue isnt quite as awesome as white/red and gold - .RJ - 06-01-2009 If the tires are old (look at the DOT stamp on the sidewall) then toss them and get new ones. Flush the brake fluid. Calipers probably need a rebuild. Service the headstock and swingarm/shock linkage bearings. Change the fork oil. Make sure chain is adjusted and lubed. Set suspension up for your weight. - HAULN-SS - 06-01-2009 I will check the DOT stamp when I get home. The guy said he bought them end of last year..guess this will verify that claim. The brakes feel fine, but I don't have anything to compare them to. I did find a service manual online, i think the first things i'll do is check the chain, check the tires, and flush the brake fluid. - Kaan - 06-01-2009 .RJ Wrote:If the tires are old (look at the DOT stamp on the sidewall) then toss them and get new ones. i dunno... old tires can wash out the squids early... they will serve a purpose in educating you if you really want to ride
- .RJ - 06-01-2009 Educating.... - Kaan - 06-01-2009 .RJ Wrote:Educating.... ginger gave me a new tire that was made in '03... i'll ride it. the hammered ass tire that is still on the bike is an '01 with 20k miles on it. - HAULN-SS - 06-01-2009 well if you guys ever want to go for a ride somewhere north or west of DC let me know...though i'm not down for doing much more than speed limits, not sure how you guys ride though Re: Bike Me - HAULN-SS - 06-09-2009 800$ CB500...not sure if thats your thing or not RJ http://martinsburg.craigslist.org/mcy/1212720156.html |
