- Apoc - 11-02-2007 Drew Carey is awful at everything he does. - ScottyB - 11-02-2007 Mike Roe from dirty jobs needs to host it. that guy is hilarious. 18,300 - Hunter - 11-02-2007 Eleventy billion dollars. - John - 11-02-2007 ~$30K - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2007 Someone who owns a bodyshop had to put a kid through college hock:
- WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2007 Good body shops make bank man. A friend of mine in town works for his father's shop (Terry's Auto Body in Pville), and his dad basically bought him a house outside of Round Hill in a really ritzy community. I think he put down like $400k of the $850k+ price for him. - HAULN-SS - 11-02-2007 yikes. why didn't they just total it? I personally wouldn't want a car back if they had to spend that much on fixing it. - John - 11-02-2007 In retrospect, I kind of wish they had totalled it - but I also know these high-end body shops bleed insurance companies on paint and labor rates (the parts are expensive, but not that expensive). - Hunter - 11-02-2007 John Wrote:~$30K hock: Sweet Jebus!
- REED - 11-02-2007 John Wrote:~$30K is that what the car was valued at or the cost to fix it? - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2007 I dunno if I'd want that car back if there was subframe damage =/ - John - 11-02-2007 REED Wrote:John Wrote:~$30K Cost to fix it. I really have no idea what the value of the car is. All I know is that Farmers is going to pay me a sweet sum of money for Diminished Value - this is going to be fun.
- Evan - 11-02-2007 holy mother - ScottyB - 11-02-2007 whoa. - John - 11-04-2007 So I picked up it Friday afternoon - looks great from the back, then walked to the front and saw that the body shop didn't do the work I paid them to do to convert the front end. I paid them back in August - somehow something got lost in the communication stream. I'm pretty pissed off, but have also found a few small issues that they need to address as well, so back up to LA the car goes. ![]() On a positive note, I drove the car around a bit this weekend, and with the new suspension, the thing is a beast. Yay for Lotus Sport Ohlins...
- WRXtranceformed - 11-04-2007 John, how badly do you think that accident will affect that car's resale value? Or do you plan on keeping it for a long time? I know you said you got a hell of a deal on it when you picked it up anyhow. - John - 11-04-2007 I plan on keeping it awhile, but yes, any accident will affect the resale value... - John - 12-17-2007 Finally got the car back (again) last Friday after finding some flaws in the workmanship upon my initial receipt. At the time of the first pickup, the new alignment and suspension was nothing short of amazing - finally have a car with perfect bodywork as well. A few photos I took tonight in the garage... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
