Did he make a purchase?

- JackoliciousLegs - 11-23-2005

indeed i did. Pics are on the way.

- Feersty - 11-23-2005

Damn, you do things so quick! Did your living/transportation situation change?

- JackoliciousLegs - 11-23-2005

New job. I'll explain after thanksgiving. Now, I need to commute

- Sijray21 - 11-23-2005

Hope this job's a little happier than the last! I look forward to your explaination Tongue and to find out what you got for a car!

- JackoliciousLegs - 11-23-2005

Alright, I quit my job because I had been sitting on my ass for 3 months doing nothing. They gave me something to do *the week I quit*... which was a schedule (someone's bitch work). Well, I'm out now and I'm starting with RightNow Technologies on Dec. They do web based CRM solutions. I'll be an "Application Engineer" doing web programming. I'm getting more interesting stuff, more $$$, and no travel to places like springfield IL.

So, I bought a car to drive there... a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs with 50k. It's blue and in good shape. It drives soooo well, and I love the awd! The suspension is suprisingly firm for a street car... comparable to the rx. It's plenty quick, and just feels great all around. It's been the fastest car purchase ever for me because I'm starting on Dec 5 and finding a good car in Chicago is much harder than in NoVa. Also, the price was right (12k).

Some of you might be thinking that I could have afforded more car... well, considering that insurance is 1060/6mo (double what it was on the RX for hburg) and parking is $175/mo (absolute minimum... outdoor, uncovered). Indoor starts at $240 in my area. Tack on city gas and you've more than doubled the car payment :-)... I'll post pictures soon.

- Mike - 11-23-2005

how is your insurance that much? pardon me if there are personal reasons, but it sounds like you need new coverage. i pay 1600/yr for my two cars and i don't have a perfect record.

- JackoliciousLegs - 11-23-2005

What provider do you have? It's because I'm in the city and need comp/col... so they say. I have a clean record and I'm using Geico. I didn't get to call around though... I was kinda in a rush to buy the car :-)

- Mike - 11-23-2005

State Farm... I have full coverage on both cars.

- .RJ - 11-23-2005

Geico is expensive as hell unless you get a discount through your work/military/bank/etc.

- ScottyB - 11-23-2005

congrats on the car and the job, Jack. thats awesome that you didn't settle for less at your old employer and went on to bigger and better things.

i love the 2.5's. im sure the low-down tractor style torque will be pretty nice in the city life.

also, i have all state insurance and im paying about 1000 a year on both the audi and the explorer combined. granted, i'm married but i've had my accidents and tickets and allstate has treated us well so far.

- Feersty - 11-23-2005

I heard being married makes a big difference on taxes/insurance. You see a big change Scotty?

- HAULN-SS - 11-23-2005

I called geico and they wanted to take me from 800$/6month for 3 cars, 2 with collision, to 1900$/6month same coverage, and that was when I had a spotless record

- ScottyB - 11-24-2005

Feersty Wrote:I heard being married makes a big difference on taxes/insurance. You see a big change Scotty?

to be honest, i didn't keep great track of my records before i was married bc i was on my parents plan as a secondary driver.

i'm pretty sure i was like 800 a year at that point.

as of now the audi is like 500 a year and the explorer is a little more.

- Sijray21 - 11-24-2005

actually it's state farm. They have VERY strict rules as to getting a policy with them. I have USAA, which is also not easy to obtain, but i'm unable to get a policy with State Farm. They won't allow anyone with a Major Violation or suspended license in the last 5 years and no one with a violation of any kind in the last 3 years. You pretty much have to have a perfect record for 3-5 years before you can even apply to become a State Farm member.

I'm paying $1057/6 months for the integra and the VW and ~$350/year for the motorcycle. I have full coverage on the integra and liability only for the bike and the VW.

congrats on the new Job Jack!! I hope this is more satisfying than your last. I was talking to Halloway last night about this.

Jack...why did you choose the 2.5RS over the WRX? Same body style but so much more power.
