DRAGON took this post of yours from another thread

"Not that I condone people going out and doing stupid shit like this, but seriously, it's just a bunch of friends doing it, has no relation to MM other than the fact they're members. They could all belong to the honor society as well, it's not like the chairs of the honor society are telling them not to hang out in groups."

my responce is....
so why the hell you get all worked up about ME and me only going to a drift gathering.. it had no realation to MM other than me being a member. i didnt have an MM sticker on my car.. a MM shirt on.. and no one there even knows about MM..

so basically... GET OFF MY CASE.. cause you contradict yourself

some of these n00bs should get out to the track to get a feeling for other racers and see firsthand that our most important priority is safety.

noob to MM yes... noob to car and track events no..

i know you've been to a lot of events, but a lot of the new guys havent been at all. i'm just sayin we should get them out to more events. i'm not trying to be a nazi when it comes to these things, but i really take pride in the fact that MM is so much more than other clubs which sit around and bench race and brag about dyno numbers. i apologize to those that are offended by my view, but i dont want MM to get a negative reputation if something bad happens.

For a club that is so concerned about it's image, and being taken seriously, I don't think these are the right kinds of attitudes to have about an event such as this. Illegal + Unsanctioned = BAD.

good lord this turned into a shitstorm. ok to clear some things up....

when i said it looked like a fun time, i meant the drifting part...not breaking the law, which Blair didn't do anyway. i love drifting, and when i get the chance, ill do it in an event.

so basically, if i do a donut in a snowy parking lot, and tell you guys about it, will you all castrate me?

- Evan - 12-07-2004

yowsers. this is getting a little personal

I dont think anyone who is discouraging this type of driving is making personal attacks, so no-one should take it personally.

Blair makes a good point that he was not driving or participating, and several others have made a good point that this behavior is not endorsed by the club and is basically stupid jackassery.

Both of those points can co-exist without conflict!

- Sijray21 - 12-07-2004

well...getting back to the pics on the first page

cool pics

and getting to the other topics:

MM doesn't support or promote this kind of activity. The people did crazy/stupid things for entertainment for themselves and for others. I'm happy he didn't participate, he did the smart thing. Watching these things gives a little craziness, and everyone needs a little craziness now and then. So we bash the people who do these things, yay, that's what we're supposed to do as a professional motorsports club! None-the-less the pictures are entertaining, thanks for posting them. I also believe that if he let out the pictures of the cars in the ditches that this wouldn't be as heated.

- .paul - 12-07-2004

I have a headache.

imports suck!

- Ryan T - 12-08-2004

Here is my opinion of it all:

The pics are cool.

As for the shit slinging I'm gonna jump right in. I don't think its MM's position to repramand any member for doing something on their own time. Sure its illegal, but so is underage drinking and I don't see anybody flipping out about that. If they were drifting in a lot or something at an MM event or advertising MM while doing it, then yes, I'd have a problem with it, but I didn't see MM stickers on any of those cars. Was it stupid of them to do that? probably, but it doesn't really matter what we think about it, it wasn't us doing the drifting and ditching (and there seemed to be an equal amount of each). I don't believe that there is any member of MM that has not lost traction on the street (honda's not included) or slid or gone over the speed limit or just done something illegal in general.

As far as I'm concerned as long as they had the owners permission and weren't slinging MM's name everywhere, its all good.

And why did this turn into such a heated debate, it was supposed to be a thread presenting some pretty cool pictures.

I think Thayer has said the best stuff yet.

- Dave - 12-08-2004

About sliding in turns around town. Yeah. Anybody seen my rear tires lately? I guess I should get the beatdown, cuz mine break loose at the slightest throttle in a turn.

- WRXtranceformed - 12-08-2004

YOU SHOULD PAY MONEYZ FOR THAT UNSANCTIONED DRIFTING DAVE !!1!!!11!!

- Kaan - 12-08-2004

all you stupid fucking jokes aside... you have no idea the shit people had to go through to get this club going... especially in the event area... our lovely university doesnt like our existance... i dont recommend attending events of this nature in the future...

all it takes is some noise as person that sees the MM on the car, and knows someone in power... and trust me JMU has graduated a TON of people. ;-) i might have to tell you a little story about a guy at work and MM... cause he heard of our little club before i even worked there.
