Re: Spend my money - ScottyB - 01-30-2017 Deceus Wrote:So do I need to buy a vape pen or is that mostly a Subaru thing? we have exclusive first rights to Ken Block, chinstrap beards, Monster merchandise and vape stuff. think of subaru guys as sort of the more perpetually broke, younger stupid second cousin to mitsubishi that thinks being famous on instagram is the same as being rich. i think the formal agreement precludes that mitsu guys may claim items such as skate shoes, flat brim hats (worn forwards, this is a point of significant controversy with subaru people), and the ability claim "Shep" as "their word" Re: Spend my money - JustinG - 01-30-2017 ScottyB Wrote:we have exclusive first rights to ..., Monster merchandise Not any more....
Re: Spend my money - Ken - 01-30-2017 Sounds dumb but the paddle shifters on that car are the most well done I've ever used before. That's awesome that the Cobb came with it! Do you know if a tune is already running? Re: Spend my money - Deceus - 01-30-2017 Ken Wrote:Sounds dumb but the paddle shifters on that car are the most well done I've ever used before. No idea, the last map loaded was a Stage 2 according to the tuner. Not sure if it was reverted or not. Definitely making it a first priority to mess with it, haven't even bothered to hook it up to the car yet. Would be great to get it on a lift or at least out of 20 degree weather and a few inches of snow. Not feeling real motivated to crawl under it. EDIT: Should probably take it to a pro tuner sometime soon to make sure nothing retarded was done to it but it seems to have been done well. Upgraded BOV and BCS is a good sign they knew what they were doing I suppose but I'd still like to double check. Re: Spend my money - Deceus - 01-30-2017 Looks it was just a basic Stage 2 COBB package. Not nearly as invasive as I was thinking. Just a high flow filter and the BCS. The BOV was a solid upgrade since apparently the OEM Ralliart one was a cheap plastic one. Everything else looks stock and will probably stay that way for a while. Took a peak at brake kits this morning and found a decent Willwood kit for $1,400. Would eventually like to pick that up along with some EVO wheels. Gotta finish the real project first. Re: Spend my money - Jake - 01-30-2017 Looks good! Congrats on the "at cost" bit. Don't wait the six months, just refinance it and lower that rate. I do recall that being the first thing a ton of people changed, the cheap recirc valve. Although, is it a BOV or a replacement re-circulation valve? i remember that being a huge deal at the time since the car was designed not to vent to air(?). The terms are interchangeable, a lot of BOVs can be purchased with a recirc kit, or at least you used to be able to. Regardless the function is still the same, just recirc vs not. The stock plastic one can handle the same as the Metal EVO X BOV. Only reason to upgrade BOV is if you are running more boost than the OEM one can handle, which is doubtful on an off the shelf tune like you get from COBB. They peak at like 21psi, which is stock peak boost for an EVO. Stage 3 doesn't even mention a need for an BOV upgrade. Main reason people upgrade a BOV is to make cool woosh noises. Was actually kinda disappointed there was no audible woosh haha Re: Spend my money - SlimKlim - 01-31-2017 That's surprising, the stock recirc is noticeable in my bone stock GTI, but to be fair my boost gauge pipes a decent amount of wooshy noises straight into the cabin. If it's like the GTIs it won't let any boost off during a flat foot up shift, you'll only really hear it if you scroll up a bunch of boost then let off the throttle in the same gear. Re: Spend my money - Steve85 - 02-01-2017 Nice! I guess I never really looked into these cars and didn't realize it was more than an appearance package. Re: Spend my money - Deceus - 02-01-2017 Steve85 Wrote:Nice! I guess I never really looked into these cars and didn't realize it was more than an appearance package. Same here, I saw they were a few grand more than the Lancer GT and figured it was a dumb "limited anniversary edition" bullshit that just came with a badge and slightly different interior. Once it's paid off I might start messing with it outside of brakes and wheels. Just have to hope the girlfriend doesn't wreck it. Re: Spend my money - CaptainHenreh - 02-01-2017 Steve85 Wrote:Nice! I guess I never really looked into these cars and didn't realize it was more than an appearance package. Well you can blame mitsu for that. Here's a 2004 Lancer Ralliart: ![]() Yeah, if you look closely it's there, but not too close: You'll die of fucking boredom. No turbo, no all wheel drive, just some "ralliart" stickers on the interior. "Same" car, 7 years later: ![]() Notice how it's an Mitsu "wrx" to the Evo's "sti". God, someday someone is gonna write a book on how to fuck up a car company and use Mitsubishi as the primary case study. Re: Spend my money - WRXtranceformed - 02-01-2017 Yeah my brother had one of the older model Ralliarts and it was a turd...just some badges iirc. So there was science behind why people ignored these, and agreed with Rex how do you not market that change better. I also didn't know these came in a turbo variant other than the EVO Re: Spend my money - JustinG - 02-01-2017 You can get it in a Hatchback as well....Surprised some of you never knew about these. Guess my inner DSM Fanboi kept me in the loop. ![]() A 2.0L Turbo, AWD, Hatch with about 60k for $15k. Hrmmmmmmm, maybe time to replace the Prius. Although I am pretty sure Mitsu decided to fuck us, cause I am 99% sure all are Auto. I believe you are correct and that's why they get no play on here. They are 100% all the TC-SST transmission, the one used the Evo MR. For what it's worth, it's the best twin clutch automatic i've driven. I liked it a lot better than the one in the GTI. Definitely a terrible decision on their part but I suppose they may have been focusing on capturing people wanting an automatic WRX since one wasn't available for so long. It's definitely not as bad as I was dreading. I do love the six speed in the Challenger but it's not like this one shifts at 2k (unless you want it to). Sport mode feels a lot like how I'd drive it with a stick but without the third pedal obviously. Re: Spend my money - Ken - 02-01-2017 Yeah, it pretty much lets you do whatever the hell you want. I distinctly recall giving, i wanna say Jake, a hard time for smacking it off the rev limiter in first for like a minute straight doing some snow donuts. |
