The tripels, wits and hefes you didn't mention that I rated awesome are below. I really like Tripel Karmeliet, so I'd go with that if you were only gonna pick one. Tripel Karmeliet Blanche De Bruxelles Epic Brewing Wit Beer Rooster Fish Summer Sky Hefeweizen Re: The Official Booze Thread - SlimKlim - 02-19-2014 A lot of beers of that style remind me of canned olives. I don't know why, but they do. I'm definitely more of an Amber/Pale Ale or IPA guy, as long as it's not one that got swept up in the "hop-etition" This caught my eye in Whole Foods and I decided to give it a try. Brewmaster Mike's Citra Mantra Pale Ale ![]() As advertised it is very citrusy. After the first sip I thought it was going to be too bitter for me, but it grew on me quickly. Has a strong grapefruit/lemon/general citrusy flavor up from without completely overwhelming a nice malt flavor. Not an all time favorite or anything but would definitely buy another six pack or two. Great beer for when the weather is juuuuuust starting to warm up. Re: The Official Booze Thread - Apoc - 02-19-2014 SlimKlim Wrote:Has a strong grapefruit... Paging Rex. Went over there a few Saturdays ago and got a flight. Can't remember them all but I really liked hoptimazation and great outdoors. It's a really cool little bar if anyone is ever looking for a chill place to try some beers on a Saturday night. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't 3 Brothers the guys who used to own Calhoun's/Cally's prior to the Cap Ale take over? They just started their own brewery after Calhoun's became deceased? EDIT: I googled....I am incorrect. Re: The Official Booze Thread - davej - 02-20-2014 now i must google, cause i thought the same thing. Re: The Official Booze Thread - Jewels - 02-20-2014 3 Brothers is good. Great atmosphere too. We had our gym's christmas party there, and since its a brewery and not a restaurant they do not have to serve food. So we had a potluck dinner, with 3 brother's beer on tap. Really friendly folks and really great beer. The Official Booze Thread - JPolen01 - 02-20-2014 Every Saturday they bring in a food truck for noms. Winning combo for me. Also usually have live music. Re: The Official Booze Thread - RawrImAMonster - 03-09-2014 Last nights batch. This recipe is supposed to be a very close clone of Bell's Two Hearted Ale. This is the first time I've used two different strains of yeast in a beer since I didn't have two of the same strain and didn't have the stuff to make a yeast starter. They are very similar strains so it shouldn't matter much.
Re: The Official Booze Thread - JPolen01 - 06-19-2014 Apoc Wrote:Dogfish Head Honey Brown Rum is by far the best sipping rum. The others aren't even playing the same sport. So I got a bottle of this tonight when I was in Rehobeth. You can only get it at their restaurant/store in Rehobeth. It's really fucking good. Sipped it over ice with a squeeze of fresh lime juice (recommended by the dogfish guys). Insanely smooth with a little bite and nice hint of honey. It's not overly sweet like jack honey is though. Only $25 for a fifth which ain't bad at all. |
