- Dragon - 09-22-2004 I think the list idea is very good, it allows us to give preferential treatment to historically reliable workers. Laura's idea of no credit but free lunch and a place to stay provides us with the opportunity to get other MMers involved. It will allow us to have new people gain experience, build reliability, and get a taste of the GFCP. Another suggestion for this is a worker preference. For example, obviously Christina prefers to work T&S. So a worker preference might make things easier on worker assignment. Oh and thanks to the 'canes it looks as if I'll be making this event. Originally I was supposed to be 60 - 100' underwater while you donkeys were workin the track, but the resort I was staying at took some significant damage and is now delaying all scheduled trips. I'll keep y'all updated. corner workers - NASAlaura - 09-22-2004 Dave, Thanks for the great idea about getting more people trained on corners. What we propose is to hold a weekend training course on flagging on Oct 23, 24. Alicia Politi has taught this course in the past, and it involves both classroom and helping out an experienced corner worker on station. We would need at least 5 people interested in taking this course however. You would receive worker credits that weekend you take the course. When you are able to work a corner solo at future events, we will pay cash for this position ($75 per day). And, James would like for C. Dalton to be Assistant to the Chief of Timing and Scoring on weekends she is available to work. (Congratulations !!) So why don't we do this: C. Dalton will work timing and scoring. Jay R will be paid $75 to flag each day on a station. We can take 2-3 more workers who want either grid or timing and scoring. And we would like to get an additional 4 people interested in learning how to flag. These people need to commit to being able to flag at future events once they receive the training on the Oct weekend. In other words, you shouldn't enroll in the flagging course if you don't think you would want this responsibility in the future. When you flag at an event, you are on a corner station all weekend with breaks for lunch. I already know of one non-MM person who wants to enroll in the flagging course, so if we can get 4 more that would be great. BTW, Chris and I are going on vacation. I will be checking e-mail and this website but not sure how often. Talk amongst yourselves and we will figure it all out soon, Laura C. - Dragon - 09-22-2004 Congratulations Christina!!! Now is the time that you ask Laura for all the pimpy NASA logo stuff you can get your paws on. I think the flagger course is a very good idea, for any MMer that's thinking about this I reccommend it. All you new members out there that aren't able to sign up for the MM worker spots, show up, take the course, and then you can start flagging future events. I'll gladly open up every nook and cranny of floor space in my hotel room for any MMer that isn't able to crash in the worker room and is taking the flagger course. - Chris - 09-22-2004 wow this is all perfect! I've been struggling with the idea for a worker list and now its basically been figured out plus more. I'm going to have this list made up hopefully for tonight's meeting, or at least discuss the options we have now to everyone there. Thanks to all! - Dragon - 09-22-2004 Don't forget the ever important subcategory to the list. MMworkers that don't count: Matt Kaan Christina D. - Mike - 09-22-2004 i'm not sure if i really count... i kind of just show up and do whatever

That's really cool. MM wives represent!
- navin - 09-22-2004 christina > myself at timing and scoring... congrats Christina! - JessicaRabbit79 - 09-28-2004 Hey, hey, hey... Any word on the worker situation for this? I know it's still a ways off, but it would be good for whoever ends up working to know plenty early.
- ScottyB - 09-28-2004 looks like i wont be able to come, even to chill/watch. there's just too many events this month! 8) - Chris - 09-28-2004 JessicaRabbit79 Wrote:Hey, hey, hey... I'm not sure how the people at my new job are gonna be about me taking weekends off.. -navin - Chris - 09-28-2004 Chris Wrote:JessicaRabbit79 Wrote:Hey, hey, hey... EDIT- sorry I forgot about the list situation, we'll get on that at the O meeting this week. Re: corner workers - Feersty - 09-28-2004 NASAlaura Wrote:James would like for C. Or does someone work when they want to and sit around the rest of the time while getting a free hotel room and food? It's ambiguous to me. If they aren't getting credits are they really required to work? Re: corner workers - white_2kgt - 09-28-2004 Feersty Wrote:NASAlaura Wrote:James would like for C. They don't need countless workers Rob, they're just trying to include as many people as possible. - damnit458 - 09-28-2004 yeah chris could you please post who will be working relatively soon? If I do get the chance to take my first trip out to an event im gonna hafta know pretty early so i can get off work Re: corner workers - Dragon - 09-30-2004 Feersty Wrote:So does this happen if all the worker spots are filled? If they aren't getting credits are they really required to work? If they expect to stay in the worker room and get free lunch then they will be working, they just won't be getting worker credits until they are officially put on the list of MM workers. No sitting around doing nothing, gotta show you're willing to work to get put on the list of possible MM workers. |
