RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - HAULN-SS - 03-20-2018 Dafuq is an Attic Tent? RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Sijray21 - 03-21-2018 (03-20-2018, 10:45 PM)HAULN-SS Wrote: Dafuq is an Attic Tent? It's like an insulated cover for a drop down stair case to the attic. The Super Official Homeowners Thread - davej - 03-21-2018 Screw wasps. We had 150+ yr old house in NY a while ago that had sat vacant for a bit, so there were all sorts of critters in there and the attic. For a few days I kept hearing a scratching/chewing sound in the bathroom but couldn't pinpoint it. Set some mouse traps and we left for a week for Christmas. (And I turned the heat down way down to maybe 45 cause I'm a cheap bastard.) Return home and upon opening the bathroom door I'm greeted by about 200 dead yellow/black hornets all over the floor. Those m-effers had chewed a hole through the plaster in the ceiling right above the toilet. Got very lucky with the timing and the door being closed, there wasn't a radiator in the bathroom so im guessing they all froze. I wish I could find the photos of it because some of them were a solid 2+" while others were more normal sized. I'm just so happy I wasn't on the can when they broke through. I patched the hole and never went up to investigate. Sold the house that spring. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Steve85 - 03-21-2018 We had similar in the house growing up. The guy had to put little plastic port holes in the wall that he could open to spray shit in then close off. He basically said it's real bad when they break through because they see you as in their nest. So yeah, if you hear something, get that shit fixed. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - RawrImAMonster - 03-22-2018 So I realized I never posted a finished picture of that bathroom I had started building way back on the first page of this thread. Here is it, more or less finished. I still need to put another coat of stain on that shelf so it matches everything else better. The white balance is a little weird in this picture, but the floor is more gray in real life. It still has a little bit of brown, but not near as much as this photo shows. ![]()
RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - ScottyB - 03-22-2018 wow that came out awesome. the built-in shelf is a nice touch as well. can't go wrong with blue/dark brown. is that a pocket door? i'm looking at the door jamb and its hard to tell, but it doesn't look like it would be judging by your wall studs. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - RawrImAMonster - 03-22-2018 It is a pocket door and we reframed that in after the initial picture. I'm really glad I decided to go that route. A normal door here would have been a pain in the ass. The main purpose of that shelf is to hide the turd pump since the bathroom is below the sewer line. There's an access panel behind the toilet to get to it if we need to. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - davej - 03-22-2018 That came out real nice! I'll give you $500 to do the one in my basement. The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Sully - 03-22-2018 I just finished redoing the master bath at my dad's house and I'm pretty sure I used the exact same tile lol. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - .RJ - 03-22-2018 Same tile here, too in my hall bath. The Super Official Homeowners Thread - *insertusernamehere* - 03-22-2018 The bathroom was redone in my townhouse last month, same tile as well lol Sent from my FRD-L04 using Tapatalk RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - .RJ - 03-22-2018 In MM, you must use wood-look tile and drive a GTI or F31 RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 03-22-2018 This is the hipster tile on the moment. The Super Official Homeowners Thread - JPolen01 - 03-22-2018 My parents did their master bath last year. Wood grain tile on the floor. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - Apoc - 03-22-2018 20 years from now, people are going to be complaining about why everyone put this tile in their house. The Super Official Homeowners Thread - JPolen01 - 03-22-2018 I'm complaining about it now. I think it looks ridiculous. Unless you go very high end it doesn't actually look like wood. RE: The Super Official Homeowners Thread - ScottyB - 03-22-2018 all i need in life now is to find some wood plank flooring that looks like tile. then nobody is safe. The new cool thing is something called "luxury vinyl". They make it in wood/stone/tile styles. It's about as thick as a normal piece of hardwood flooring, has a cork layer on the bottom and is mostly waterproof. I'll probably use that in my basement area outside of the bathroom when I finish the rest of that room. |
