Never tried this oil before but have heard only good things..and I got it on the cheap at Walmart. truth. probably one of the best non-boutique oils you can get and at the price they sell it for its a great value. strong additive package and retains viscosity very well. you should be able to run 8k mile oil change intervals if you're doing mostly highway on an oil that robust. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 02-03-2012 Nice that's good to know! I was honestly surprised at how much more stout my car is running now. It leaves me wondering what kind of oil was in there before. But yeah I think it was $30-34ish for 6 quarts? Verryyy curious to see how much this burns up vs the old oil, but the tech did tell me that is totally normal for cadillacs. He said the Northstars would go through 2 quarts every 3000 miles. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - JustinG - 02-03-2012 Apparently 1qt every 3k miles is normal according to GM for the 5.3L in the Saab. Which reminds me, I need to check the oil. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 02-03-2012 It's new to me, none of the Jap cars I have ever owned have burned up oil at all...other than the STi which was understandable. The Miata will burn about half a quart over a track weekend, which I'm fine with. Burns nothing on the street. The BMW, however, burns a quart or two between 4k mile oil changes. It's a really old motor, though, so I think it's normal. I just keep checking it and adding as needed. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 02-03-2012 I have heard that newer BMWs burn a lot of oil too. I just buy the rusty shitty ones :dunno: Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 02-05-2012 Ripped out the intake silencer this afternoon, awesome sound! This car has had the biggest difference with that mod. It almost sounds like a V8 grumble! Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - JPolen01 - 02-07-2012 Sounds awesome! Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - WRXtranceformed - 03-22-2012 All this talk of mudflaps made me remember I wanted to buy and install these, so I did! Had them painted while my car was in the body shop. ![]() Pimp CTS logo in them: ![]() Harder to see on a black car but it definitely gives the car a better "widebody" look: ![]() ![]() ![]() Bottom part of my chrome "grille" had to be removed after nailing a tire at 70mph. Still looks ok imo: ![]() I was rear-ended (sort of, long story) and finally got my car back from the shop all fixed. Forgot how much I like this car after driving rentals for a week. Definitely needs more power, so I may end up doing a thermal TB spacer (apparently it makes a HUGE difference on these cars...the v6 camaros are seeing +20wtq) and I would love to do a full Magnaflow exhaust, but not sure if I want to justify spending $900 on it. Also need to buy the nav update, but it's another $200 (current version is from 2008 :lol
Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - ScottyB - 03-22-2012 looks good! very OEM and i don't find them distracting at all. If that's after the body shop fixed the damage from being rear ended, I'd be paying them a visit for sure. Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - JustinG - 03-25-2012 That's a normal gm paintjob Re: Project DD: 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI - premiershine9 - 03-25-2012 flintster55 Wrote:WRXtranceformed Wrote:Pimp CTS logo in them:Holy orange peel. This car takes shredded tires on the highway at 75+mph and gets assaulted daily by soccer mom minivans in the parking lot. It's definitely not the first or the last blemish it's going to get. And it's definitley not a show car! |
