- Feersty - 10-06-2008 Insurance in San Antonio, TX is more expensive than Springfield, VA for anyone that cares. Shocked me, but I get my groceries at Wal-Mart to compensate for it. Mine for full coverage jumped from 487$ every 6 months to 712$ every 6 months, but rent for my 1 bdrm apt is 649$/month. Glad to be out of the parent's house though, but sure don't regret living there for 3 years after college, it gave me a grrrrrrrrrrrrreattt start. - rezarxt - 10-06-2008 I pay $128 a month. Im 18 with a clean record. Man I was hoping to pick up an sti in another year or two if I can save up enough money. That really crushes my dream Maybe Ill buy a Cobra. Keep it in the mustang family. I heard cobras are the 3rd most expensive american car to insure under vipers and vettes. God either way im going to get raped. Ill just have to stay under my parents name for as long as possible. - Sijray21 - 10-07-2008 Feersty Wrote:Insurance in San Antonio, TX is more expensive than Springfield, VA for anyone that cares. i actually am i bit surprised with that. did you have any additional claims/tickets/incidents between those quotes? change the insurance coverage? ps - i can imagine how much savings you would have if making consistent money and not paying rent/utilities - props to you for putting up with it. my g/f's friend did that and now she owns her nicely furnished loft in Bethesda. - SethM - 10-07-2008 Makes me happy I only pay $88/month for my 2004 SRT4. Yay for not getting any tickets since I got it.[/i] - WRXtranceformed - 10-07-2008 Still around $150/mo for the TL-S with full coverage and employee discount. - John - 10-07-2008 Sijray21 Wrote:i actually am i bit surprised with that. A lot is tied to other things you don't think about - such as speed limits and other mandates like motorcycle helmet laws. I know that insurance in Arizona is very expensive due to those specific reasons... - Feersty - 10-08-2008 Sijray21 Wrote:Feersty Wrote:Insurance in San Antonio, TX is more expensive than Springfield, VA for anyone that cares. The coverages are virtually the same as what I had in VA, if not a tad less here. When I was living with my parents I did pay rent, only $300. Severely discounted, but helped me get used to the money leaving my account. The only incident was the one I mentioned in another thread. Sportbike ran into my sideview mirror on my way to TX on I85 South just north of Atlanta. Lady said my rates would NOT increase because of this. It was covered under uninsured motorist coverage. Was she lying? I don't know, would my rates increase because of this? John Wrote:Sijray21 Wrote:i actually am i bit surprised with that. There is a no helmet law in TX. I see people riding around here all the time without them. Not sure if that would increase my rates, but perhaps there are more motorcycle deaths because of this? Often involving automobiles? Other reasons it went up, so the lady says, is the zip code, more uninsured motorists, more accidents, and it is a border state to Mexico. - Sijray21 - 02-06-2009 Does anyone have State Farm? I was wondering if they could refer me to their agent here in the DC area. I read on another forum about cheap motorcycle insurance and i want a quote. Currently with Progressive (not too expensive, but i wanted to save more $$). - .RJ - 02-06-2009 I've been with state farm for ~4 years now - I use this office: http://online2.statefarm.com/b2c/sf/agent/46/2970 That phone picture is so 80's. - Evan - 02-06-2009 I just switched to Allstate. MUCH cheaper than esurance, and I get an agent too. Esurance wouldnt even insure my new garage candy at all. - Apoc - 02-06-2009 Evan Wrote:I just switched to Allstate. I'm surprised Allstate is cheaper, I've seen their PNL. - Evan - 02-06-2009 virtues? not that I recall. They arent stellar but dont suck by any means either and Ive never had to file a claim. when I originally signed up, they were by far the cheapest. over the years they gradually raised rates when they should have lowered them. I was just too lazy to switch until now. - WRXtranceformed - 02-06-2009 I'm switching to Allstate already in March. They're the next cheapest after Traveler's fucked me on an underwriting goof up. - Evan - 02-06-2009 Apoc Wrote:Didn't you use to tout the virtues of esurance? Allstate right now is pretty much killing the competition, at least for sure in this area. Ha he even offered me a job as a partner :lol:Apoc Wrote:Didn't you use to tout the virtues of esurance? I'm hoping that having a human involved with somehow get me a better rate as businesses are fighting for more customers. - JustinG - 02-06-2009 after dealing with insurance companies everyday through work, Casey and I are contemplating switching to Statefarm since the CS is excellent I love dealing with SF here at work and their rates are cheap, for 3 cars (GSX/Focus/Potential purchase) it was $2k for both of us. - balactm - 02-06-2009 I'm signing on with nationwide with the upcoming car. I'm gonna have full coverage and a $500 deductible for $93 a month. I'm pretty happy. And that's with 2 accidents on record (one shouldn't be...damn dmv). - Ryan T - 02-06-2009 I pay $102/month for the Vette. 24, 2 accidents and one hell of a speeding ticket. - fiveoh2go - 02-07-2009 rezarxt Wrote:Maybe Ill buy a Cobra. I knew how much it was going to run before I bought the car but it still sucks having to fork over that much every month, even with a clean record. Oh well, you have to pay to play.
