I changed my post... the 1.5" was way too low/harsh. I was looking at the Tien HTech but the popular choice seems to be the STi Pinks.
This thread shows the difference with the Pinks.

The Pinks are $400 but appearantly they can be backordered as long as 8 weeks. At this point I'm 6 months away from a purchase but it takes me 6 months to decide to do anything anyway.

they tend to lower the car excessively and sit it on it's bumpstops. plus they aren't priced any better than superior options like the JDM pinks.
subarus don't lower well with stock-type struts but Teins sell well because its popular to look dumped. not that i wouldn't want to look that way either but i prefer ride quality.
