- ScottyB - 05-22-2007 BLINGMW Wrote:heh, I love the chassis glue seriously awesome. you know you're driving some light stuff when you can point out that your chassis is held together with some orange stuff  - John - 06-24-2007 Reviving this thread as I've had the car a blissful four weeks, and it's now crippled as a result of some 3rd world driving tactics. I was driving through a green light, and Camry decided to take a left from the oncoming direction into me and struck me in the driver's side rear wheel. My car is disabled in the intersection and my friend and I go to check on them. They have a child in the back seat and we ask if everybody is OK. The passenger exclaims, "we're fine, but the child is crying. Didn't you see us?" WTF, I almost lost it as it was obvious who had the right of way and I couldn't believe the audicity and the smirk from the passenger. Driver didn't speak English, but she did have insurance (that or her husband's car had insurance). I suppose her towel was blocking her vision. I now have a broken suspension, damaged wheel, and clamshell. I have no idea what else is damanged (probably replace the Ohlin damper) - but it's not going to be cheap since the dealership has the car now. So, it looks like my Elise will be a short-termer - now awaiting an Exige conversion. Stay tuned... Anybody want to take the over/under on the repair costs? I'm guessing $15K...
- Ryan T - 06-24-2007 Sucks that you got hit man, just not having good luck with cars here recently. Glad your ok though, that's the most important part. I'm gonna put my guess at $17,429.38. Post some pics of the car post-accident. - John - 06-24-2007 I'm going to head up to the shop tomorrow to take some photos... the car will be lonely amongst all the Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys, and whatever else they have there at Symbolic. LOL This lady is definitely getting dropped by Farmer's after this claim. - Ginger - 06-24-2007 Wow John. That absolutely blows. I guess the Police report was in your favor, then? I only ask because I'm really curious as to how and when the shafting of the ignorant asshole driving the cheap-shit-overcrowded-little-person-mover-with-a-smart-ass-mouth got theirs... because that's the kind of crap that makes a person want to back up and hit somebody else on purpose. Glad you're alright, though, and seriously, pics of this are like, requisite. - John - 06-24-2007 No police reports in CA are issued unless somebody is injured. Officer was pretty clear to acknowledge that she was at fault (I was going straight through a green light). Unfortunately for the insurance companies, that means more work for pointing fingers, but I'm not concerned about who's going to come out on top here. I have to foot the bill for the rental car for the time being until her insurance company takes over the reimbursement process. - Dave - 06-25-2007 jesus christ I hate stupid people. - Maengelito - 06-25-2007 damn, sorry john. between you and scotty, MM's been having some bad luck - John - 06-25-2007 What happened to Scotty? - ScottyB - 06-25-2007 John Wrote:What happened to Scotty? engine crap. if it makes you feel any better my rear main seal is leaking again. really sorry to hear this John. i've heard loti (?) are pretty expensive to fix what with the bonded chassis and plastic body. i really hope everything is set right for you. people can be phenomenally retarded sometimes.....i hope they pay for their screw up in a big way. - John - 06-25-2007 Yes, they're not cheap - especially if the exotic dealership is going to be doing the work. I'm thinking of starting a poll on how much the damage is going to cost... - ScottyB - 06-25-2007 John Wrote:I'm thinking of starting a poll on how much the damage is going to cost... honestly, i think Ryan probably isn't far off. Ryan T Wrote:I'm gonna put my guess at $17,429.38. - John - 11-02-2007 After many months of false promises and waiting, I was given the green flag to pick up the car - heading up in a few hours to pick little car up. Anybody want to guess the final price tag? Here was the damage. (Note: rear left suspension was damaged and subframe had to be replaced) ![]() ![]() Will post photos of the rebirth this evening... - HAULN-SS - 11-02-2007 $8, 439 - REED - 11-02-2007 When i was in Chicago - somebody working @ the courthouse had an orange elise that they must have rear ended someone in - it looked a lot worse off than yours, I don't even want to think about the cost to fix that one - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2007 I'm going to guess at least $15,000. - John - 11-02-2007 Higher. In all honest, if the lady had hit me 10mph harder, it probably wouldn't have made a difference in the cost - it was just hard enough to damage the afflicted parts. - Maengelito - 11-02-2007 hmmm, ya know, i'm gonna have to guess $420, bob - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2007 $421. Off topic: Have you guys seen The Price is Right lately?? Drew Carey is the new host and he is absolutely awful.... he looks so awkward up there and has no idea what he's doing. Back on topic: Higher than $15k huh? I mean what's the assessed value of the car? $35k? |
