I get a loud shreek from my brakes upon initial application but as depression increases the sound dissipates and goes away. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this?

Maybe the brakes don't like being depressed... I know I'd scream.

Have you checked the pad thickness?

- Evan - 02-23-2006

cold brakes, rusty rotors, no big deal

Thickness looks good. Dealership checks pads and rotors so that is double check.

Evan mentioned rust on rotors, I get that as well, but it is not a big issue?

- Dave - 02-23-2006

could also be that you are missing anti-squeal shims or something like that.

- Mike - 02-24-2006

i wouldnt worry unless it gets like silly loud, you feel a grinding through the pedal, or you see flames Tongue

yeah i agree, that's when i found out when my xp-10's were thinner than paper :x

Just a little rust on the brakes from the sound of it.

Live and learn right.

Don't use this to paint fogs:

Result, ugh, took me 2 and a half hours to get something that really doesn't look good:

If you are gonna do this make sure you use krylon glass enamel. Fwiw people on forums have used it and said that it begins to chip no matter how many coats you use. I obviously used something opaque. I'll see the light that gets emitted come nightfall.

- Feersty - 03-12-2006

What can I use to remove this? People say that aircraft thinner can be used on glass.

- Ginger - 03-12-2006

If the glass enamel chips why not just paint the inside of the cover instead of the side facing the road?

- .RJ - 03-12-2006

why are you painting the foglights?

I'm not sure why a different set of bulbs, or a clear film wouldnt be better - www.lamin-x.com sells the film.

- Maengelito - 03-12-2006

um, wow. sorry feersty, but that sucks. i'm not sure why you thought regular spray paint would be translucent, but best of luck getting it off.

- ViPER1313 - 03-12-2006

Good luck with that Confusedhock:

Please tell me that you at least took them out of the car before you painted them.

In the future, if you are unsure of something car related, ask a question here first. It works a lot better then fucking something up and then asking how to fix it.

- Mike - 03-12-2006

rofl... icy hot! i personally would have used black.

yeah did take them out.

Tal-Strip aircraft stripper. 5 something a can. Works miracles, safe for glass, don't let it near plastic.

Or skin.

Or mucous membranes.
